Fries at Ohana?

Yes, you can! We have been going to O'hana for years....and my DD always orders a hamburger and fries.

Noodles are a starch. ;)

I guess you could ask, but for me personally, I don't really like to make a spectacle of myself at restaurants without good reason, so I wouldn't. You can always buy yourself fries at the food court on the way home.

I know they are a starch - I think you missed where I said I don't care for the noodles. And buying/eating fries on the way home won't help break up all of the meat while eating dinner at the restaurant. It's not about going away hungry - it's for a more enjoyable meal.

And I've eaten at O'hana many times (with the noodles, with the potatoes, and even before the potatoes) and never made a spectacle of myself, other than asking for a 2nd serving of the bread pudding (and one time asking for just a 2nd serving of the caramel sauce to double up the sauce). I only asked the question because another poster inferred they had adults (not a kids meal) get fries before.

Overall, you pretty much missed the entire point of my question. Thanks, though.

Well let's put it this way. You are an adult. You know what's on the Ohana menu. Personally, I would not book a place that doesn't offer fries if fries are going to make or break my meal. It would be like if I just didn't like the shrimp at Ohana and asked for grilled fish on a skewer instead. Wouldn't that be silly? "But I need some seafood to go with my steak. Yes I know they have shrimp but I don't like it."

I didn't miss the point of your question at all.

Some people are perfectly fine with asking for "extras" like this, but to me it just sounds entitled, so it's not something I would do.

Yes, I am an adult.

Yes, I know what's on the O'hana menu.

I never indicated that fries would make or break my meal. I don't know where you read that implication, especially after I just explained that I asked because someone else inferred they received them. I think I even stated that I've eaten at the restaurant many times in its current and former menus. I've never asked about getting something that's not on the menu. DD did get a hot dog and fries many years ago when she was little and didn't like the menu. The server offered - I hope that's okay with you since I didn't ask for it and make a spectacle out of myself.

It was really a simple question that you didn't help answer in any way. Thanks for all of the other things you offered that I didn't remotely ask about though. :thumbsup2

You were the one who put out the extra info about your dislike of noodles and need for a starch.

If you wanted a "yes" or "no" answer, just ask "Anyone have any luck asking for fries?"

You can't dictate what people will respond to. :thumbsup2

Anyone have luck asking for fries because you don't care for the noodles and want a starch with all of the meat?

Do you mean something like this? I'm not an english major, but that looks a lot like a yes or no question to me. I don't think I asked about whether I could or should ask at the restaurant - I think I asked if anyone has experienced that case. So your simple response/answer to my question could have just been "No".

Now, if I would have instead asked...

Would anyone ask for fries at O'hana?

Actually, that's still kind of a yes or no question. So maybe if I would have phrased the question as...

Would anyone make a spectacle of themselves by asking a simple question like getting fries at a meal?

That's still a yes or no question. But at least then your line of responses would have been on target and much appreciated. But alas, that wasn't anywhere near what I asked.

No, I can't dictate what people respond to. Unfortunately I also can't dictate that people answer a question as asked instead of going of on some tangent. If I could have a super power, that might go ahead of flying or invisibility today.

Just to confirm, we were a party of 3 adults.

We asked for a side of fries and the server replied 'not a problem.' Half way through the meal we asked if we would like more.

No one made a spectacle of themselves nor was it embarrassing!
