Iwas wondering if anyone has attended the "Friends of Bill W" meetings while on the cruise ship. DH would like to participate while we are on our cruise....
No, I have not attended, but your DH should have no problem doing so. They're held everyday on the Wonder and the Magic, and the time/place is listed in each day's Navigator.
Originally posted by AnnMorin What is that anyhow? We noticed it in our navigators the past two cruises and thought, gee that Bill guy must have alot of friends!?
I must confess to my stupidity. On our cruise in Nov 2001 my aunt and uncle joined us. My uncle is an alcoholic (are you supposed to say recovering alcoholic?) and said that no one else ever showed up for the meetings every day. When I first saw this in the navigator (Friends of Bill W) I realized then that it was a meeting for AA but what I didn't know was why it was called that. I knew that my uncle was going to the meeting but I thought he had called ahead to DCL to see about setting up these AA meetings and they had named the meeting Friends of Bill W because of this. You see, my uncle's name is Bill Wright!! Boy, did I ever feel stupid when my aunt explained the name to me. I was really impressed with DCL setting this up for my uncle until I found out the true story!!
Lori...that is a cute story. I could see under the circumstances of your uncle's name why you would think they named the meetings after him!!!! Now we all know the real reason for the name. I always knew what the meetings were, but like you, never knew why they were called that.
