Friends Fly Free promotion????

I was poking around online trying to find a good Disney deal and came across the Southwest vacations site. Supposedly they are offering a deal where every second person flies free. I tried booking out the deal, but it doesn't seem that the discount for the second person is coming off. I priced it out as one traveler and then priced it out with two and the difference is a few hundred dollars. Is anyone else having this problem??? I am getting so frustrated!

That's what I found yesterday too.
I'm already booked at Pop during free dining and have bought our tickets thru SW. I figured I check out the deal and see what it would save me - it came out about $300 higher because it makes you get as many days of park tickets as you are going - right now I only have the required 1 day base because we've got old hopper tickets to use. The rates for the flights haven't gone up, so the price difference was all park tickets; but there definitely was no 2nd person free in the quote.

I'm glad others are having this issue too...when I contacted SW vacations at their 1-800 number, the agent was completely rude and acted like I had no idea what I was talking about. When I tried presenting him with the numbers and explaining why their "deal" didn't make sense, he didn't want to listen. I'm hoping if enough people call in, it will prompt them to fix the problem but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I called and the agent told me you must leave on a Monday and come back on Thursday. So it is a very short stay. You also have to make sure the hotel says sale by it. I found even if I did book Mon-Thurs and the hotel said sale the promo never worked. It was very annoying.

I had no problem. I priced out the same package and dates on the disney site. Southwest was about $210 more and included the flight for two.

I just priced out a vacation following the rules exactly and it isn't taking off the free flights for me either. I even checked the flights to make sure how much it should be. I wonder if it's because when you click on the free dining/friends fly free offer, it puts in a code that gives you $100 off. I don't know what's going on but if we could get it to work this would be a great deal.

I thought it's just me, it turned out that everyone got the same problem with this deal. I had tried pricing it out myself, then called 800 number and went through it with the agent, the package price is actually higher than if I just book separately flight, resort and tickets. It's really a scam. It makes people who don't check believing that they got a great deal "fly free, free dining, $100 off, etc" !!!!

Also I asked what they cancellation policy is, basically you can't cancel the package once you booked otherwise you would lose your deposit (in my case $400), or you would have to buy an insurance for $49.99 per person or $200 in my case. while you can book with Disney and cancel it with no penalty, it's a rip off.

I was finding SW to be more too. I asked the SW person I was talking to and it's not the flights, it's the room rates. They are not the same as what you can book through disney, they raise the room rates!!!!

Very deceptive - I'm not happy with Southwest about this at all. The moral of the story is never accept a "deal" at face value & always compare prices.

I am so happy to hear that others had the same problem I had. The horribly rude agent talked to me like I was a moron and "just wasn't getting it". I am thinking of complaining on this one, it isn't right.....

I priced it out too and it was over $500 more going through southwest vacations even though I have flights through southwest and a package through disney. crazy. it showed I got 2 free flights and $100 off. but the numbers don't add up. I hope not many people are fooled by this "promotion"

I called them as well to have them explain why I was required to buy a 3 day base min when we all know the rules say "one". (we have ap's)

that is a SW requirement in order to give you the free air ticket. You can change the kind of ticket by clicking the "addons" tab.

Also there are fees and penalties that are not normally involved with flights only.

So while this can be a great deal, you just have to follow thru to see if it all works for you.
