Friends/family backed out, try a solo trip?

Ok so I was putting together a trip to WDW for Aug 14-19, but the people that were gonna go with me have now backed out. I pretty much had my heart set on going and would hate to not go anywhere now. I could still afford to go if I stay at a value resort and cut my trip by one night, but it'll have to be a solo trip. I'm sure I could still have a great time, but it just seems strange going alone. I'm 21, just a normal dude, I get along with people, I should have a good time right? You guys think I should still go?

Absolutely -- going to WDW solo is great. There're lots of hints and tips on this board. You have FREEDOM! to do your own thing on your own schedule (well, with the usual WDW constraints). It will be really hot in August, but that's also easier to cope with on your own.

Go, and have a great time!

Okay, so I am not a guy, but I do have many guy friends on here who go solo all the time. So go. . .by all means go. And come over to the Singles Social Club and start chatting with us. . .there might just be someone over there going around the time you are and you might be able to meet up for a ride or a meal.

Assuming you already know and love Disney, then absolutely yes!

Plusses:
  • I've met many great friends by going as a solo and meeting up with others from here, and I'm an anti-social hermit, so normal people should do great!
  • I meet complete strangers and hear great stories in lines, on benches, on buses and the monorail, and again, I'm an anti-social hermit so...
  • If you want to rush from ride to ride as fast as possible, nobody will slow you down.
  • If you want to sit on a bench for half an hour enjoying the breeze and watching kids get their picture taken with a princess, nobody will be complaining to you about it.
  • If you decide to skip your ADR to grab something else to eat on the spur of the moment, you won't ruin the plans of someone else.
  • If the lines and heat become too much to handle, it's easy to change your plans.
  • Single Rider Lines!!

Minuses:
  • Nobody to share those "you had to be there" moments with.
  • Nobody to escort you back to your room after being kicked out of Atlantic Dance Hall.
