My daughter went to scoop herself some Friendly's "ice cream" this afternoon and noticed it is NOT ice cream. It is labeled "frozen dairy dessert" and the first several ingredients are "milk, skim milk, corn syrup, sugar, cream, wheat flour, cocoa, whey protein concentrate, high fructose corn syrup, etc., with several oils listed. Yuck!!! I need to read labels more carefully. There was a brand that used to advertise that it was made with sugar, cream, and fruit, but I can't remember what brand it was; I'm going to have to find it. I'm not sure if all Friendly's ice creams are now "frozen dairy desserts", or just the Sundae Xtreme Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Gee whiz...it's gone from a half gallon to 1.75 of a half gallon to 1.5 of a half gallon to fake ice cream. Friendly's, I used to love you, but you've lost me on this one. And who knew there could be wheat flour in "ice cream"? I hope wheat allergy sufferers know to read their ice cream labels.
