This is why I try to get Bryer's. It's really ice cream and has the least amount of extra garbage in it. Regular flavors anyway. Bets are off on any of the candy, brownie, cookie, stuff.
Even Beyers requires you to read the labels carefully. A few months ago I realized after one bite of their "Peanut Butter Tracks" product that something was wrong. I then realized that the package didn't use the words "ice cream" or "chocolate". I sent an email to the company explaining my disappointment and received a nice note back, but I haven't bought their products since. I don't need an artificially flavored frozen dairy dessert. I used to consider it a trusted brand, I don't anymore.
I look forward to making my own ice cream this summer!
A serving is only 4 oz... and as someone else pointed out, they add air to ice cream (which happens naturally when you whip it long enough in the ice cream maker).
We make our own ice cream these days. It's pretty easy. Whipping cream, 1/2 n 1/2, sugar and our own flavorings... we've made coffee, strawberry, chocolate and tons of others.... Oh, and the coffee that DH makes... rivals the Blue bell coffee ice cream which I used to think was the best ever.
As someone who has to avoid wheat flour, your ice cream has wheat flour in it because of the fudge brownie in it. I typically avoid anything that has words like brownie, cake, pie, etc in the title even if it is ice cream.
