My friend actually received two postcards today. One for the value resorts at $49 per night and another for moderates from $79 per night. She said there is a pin number on the card and is not going to use either card. She also said they spelled her last name all wrong. We are guessing she got the cards because she is an AP holder (I am too and didn't get any darn cards!) - the funny thing is, she has never stayed on-site, ever. We stay often, and here she gets the cards!
Anyway, my long winded question is, can I use the pin number and apply it to my reservation since she is not using it? Has anyone ever done this?

I would definately call and try it. Just tell the CM the truth and see what happens. Couldn't hurt only help! What are the dates the discounts are good for? I also keep hoping for a post card.

Fam4jc -
I am fairly sure the cards are for September...she is bringing them in to work tomorrow for me, so as soon as I have the info I will post it here.
I don't know where they mail the cards from, but we are very close to WDW so if they go out of Orlando we would get them quickly and that would mean they are on the way to the rest of the country!

I did this when my mother in law got a post card. I had made all the plans and arrangements for my kids first visit to WDW and we tolld the in laws. Low and behold they got a post card the next year. I used it to book my June trip with just me and my wife. No one asked any question about the post card while making a ressie. They just wanted the code for input in the computer.

I just received a postcard that was in my sons girlfriends name but was sent to my address she went on vacation with us a few years ago. They said as long as the person whose name is on the card is traveling than we could use it. I called back and explained I didnt know for sure if she would be going the CM put me on hold and then came back and said since it was in my address and I could verify it when I checked in that I could use it. So basically I guess if I had just said yes she was going I would have been able to use it anyway. Just figured I would give my 2 cents.

Good Luck

I would love to get a postcard. I haven't gotten one since 1997! How sad is that?? I've been an AP holder since way before that, too. I wonder if they kick your name off the postcard list if you become a DVC member?

I got a mailer over the weekend with a PIN. The mailer was addressed to my middle name. My family calls me by my middle name, and the last time we stayed at Disney my sister made the reservations.

This weekend I used the mailer to make reservations at WL. When I called, the CM asked for my name, address and PIN number. I gave him my first name which is the name I go by outside my immediate family. After he put it all in, a message popped up on his screen saying that the name did not match (invalid name or something like that). I had to explain the whole first name/middle name thing to him. He told me that I had to make the reservations under my middle name. He also asked if my divers license or credit card had a middle initial on it. I believe he also put a notation in the system saying that the reservations were made under my middle name.

As kind of a side note, after that he started addressing me by my middle name. That's ok. It just felt a little odd. I'm use to only close family or old friends from my childhood addressing me that way.

I know last yr WE got a postcard addressed to my mom at our address. Still no idea how that combo came about.

Loretta- Try it you might luck out. I think sometimes they try to entice people who haven't stayed on site hoping that if they stay on site cheaply once they'll have them for life.

This summer I used a postcard my friend received. When I called to use it the CM stated she would have to be traveling with us, so I just added her name to the reservation. I paid in full before we arrived & they never asked any questions when we arrived.

Unfortunately, my friend forgot to bring in the postcards today. She will try and bring them tomorrow....so as soon as I get the info I will post it here.

I get them in my Ex Husbands name all the time. I am the one hwo planned the trip/ paid for the trip. His name was 1st on the ressie so he gets them . I have tried to use them in the past ans was always told no . I kept his last name ( we have kids) and just added my name to it and they still wont let me use the postcards. We get them all the time and it kills me throwing them away .
The person whose name the card is in has to be there for check in . :(
I dont think my Dh would like to take my Ex Husband on our trip LOL

We received a post card in my mother's name. She always travels with us but the ressies are always in my name. She does live with us so I understand why it was sent here.
Our experience was... I called and explained my mother would not be traveling with us this year and my last name is not the same. I had to show my driver's lic. when I got there to prove the address was the same as the one on the post card.
I would call and ask, that couldn't hurt but I would also be sure to note the name of the person I talked to just in case.

Yea thats basically what they told me that I would have to show my drivers license to verify that is my address. Although in the past I have booked Florida resident rates and have yet to ever show my drivers license so who knows, it dosn matter really cause it is my address anyway.

This is getting funny. There are two separate threads weaving in and out of each other here (postcard rates and puppy photo) and neither is commenting on the other topic.

Maybe we "puppy picture lovers" are in a parallel universe here.

Or is this what's called highjacking a thread?

Rhonna :)
