friend going in Oct...had no idea there was a halloween party

as I talk to some of my friends/co-workers who are planning trips to the world I realize that there are MANY who do not get into the planning as much as I do..

just got back from a birthday party and friend who is going in Oct told me that she forgot to call for ressies at the castle for Cinderella breakfast and is hoping to get walk up reservations on that day...

then I asked if she got her MNSSHP tix yet and she didn't have a clue what I was talking about!!!

how could she not know!!!!

another Mom at the same party got talking about "those Pass things" ie fast pass...she said they never did them as they looked too complicated!!!

do you ever wonder how many people in the parks with you on any given day are also as clueless as my friends...

There are many, many clueless people!! I was for our first trip!! We made so many "rookie mistakes"! Swore we were never going back. The thing was I researched quite a bit, just the info sites though. Never the DIS or anything like it. The info from the members here is truly priceless. By a stroke of luck, we decided to give it 1 more try-- and had the BEST vacation ever. We've been going every 4-9 months since!!

You know, I am totally shocked by the amount of people who don't use fastpasses, or that some of them assume they cost extra money. As I recall though, in 2001 when my dh and I first went with our family we didn't use any fastpasses or do any Ps, I guess Disney really is a lifestyle. You live and you learn.....

Maybe it depends on if you are a "planner" or a "wing it" type of person. The research and planning are half the fun for me. I just can't get enough information sometimes....part of my over-achiever tendancies. It's a good thing there are so many different people in the world, or else I guess I wouldn't have an advantage (in my mind anyway ).

I just wanted to add that I totally agree. My best trip, ever, was in 1995. I planned and planned (with Birnbaum's book which was then, "unofficial". . . the next time, I think I ignorantly thought i was a pro, and didn't plan at all. . .not a wondeful trip, but okay. ..only. I've planned since, and this trip, i'm planning and reading like crazy. This one will be great. And, this board is great!

Plus, I agree that planning is part of the fun. It's fun to get into the whole spirit of disney when reading and making plans!

I'm like you, astounded sometimes at the things people say...

I have realized that everyone is not a disney fanatic like me. The other day, I was getting my hair colored and my stylist told me she just came back from "that Magical Kingdom place".

It took all the energy I could muster to not tell her it was the Magic Kindom, not Magical, but I was too afraid that my hair might end up purple!!!

I have to make an effort sometimes to be quiet so I don't sound like a complete nut carrying around useless Disney World trivia
