SO basically I am the only one in my family who thinks that the friend pickles at the Carnation Café sound so interesting and I CAN'T WAIT to try them. Has anyone ever had them and are they good? I feel as though the fact that they have been around for quite some time means that enough people must like them. What are your thoughts? My family thinks I am crazy and that the thought of it makes them grossed out to the max... weird right! Anyways...so back to the original question... Anybody out there tried them? and what are your thoughts??

thanks in advance! :)

Haven't tried them there, but 2 of my friends get them often at places near where we live. They love them. I'm not really that into them.

Ok, this is so good to hear! Literally every single time we go I'm like I NEED to get fried pickles and then something always happens and I end up forgetting. I honestly don't know why they sound so disgusting to my family, but it is good to know that they are def not the majority. I am so excited to try them..they look(and sound ) amazing! Can I be at Disneyland already??? Lol

I just tried them last week, for the first time.
They were great. I'm not sure how to describe them other than instead of an onion ring, there is a pickle instead.

My son didn't like them, but he doesn't like pickles.

My teenage son tried them for the first time in nov at carnation cafe and loved them. We went back 3 times during our trip so he could have them. It might have also been because we loved the potato soup which we also had never had.
We live in Australia and pickles are not that popular especially eating a whole pickle so him loving them surprised me.
Try them you will never know unless you give it a go.

I can't wait to have them at Carnation Cafe. Planning on eating there just to have the pickles!

Where in NSW are you? With the current burger joint and Americana food trend here, this is so becoming a thing! Lucky Hotel in Newcastle has been the best lately but can probably suggest a number of places in Newy, Sydney and Canberra with the help of DH.

I thought they were good. Not floored by them but I would have them again. Basically dill pickle with onion ring batter like someone else said. If you like both of those tastes combined, you'll like them. You will get thirsty though.

They are amazing! We were there three times during our trip just for these pickles. Do it and you won't regret it.

one thing is they're not like regular (southern, at least) fried pickles, though - they're spears instead of slices. so the ratio of pickle to breading is much higher on the pickle side than any other fried pickles i've ever seen. at least in december of 2015! :P

They are the best fried pickles I've ever had. They actually have a parmesan breading and they have the center part of the pickle removed (the part where the seeds would be) so they are still thin and crunchy, even though they are spears. And they don't use cheap jarred pickles...they use the same fresh dill pickles they sell at the fruit carts. Super good!

We tried them once at the Carnation Cafe and I learned that I really hate fried pickles. I like eating Kosher dill pickles, but fried? Bleh.

This is why they are so good. I have tried other "spear" fried pickles and they are too big...too much pickle to breading. Carnations are perfect. Thin, Crispy and just the right about of tang.

My family also really likes the fried dill pickles are Carnation Cafe! They're crispy on the outside and crunchy on the inside. As others have said, they're pickle spears, so you can really taste the pickles. I'm inclined to say that if you like pickles, these are worth trying. If you don't like the taste of pickles, then I'd skip them. I really like pickles, so these are a must eat for me.
