As I sit here eating one of my most favorite foods on earth, I am wondering....what is your opinion of fried okra: yay or nay?

P.S. I dated a guy when I was in Southern California for undergrad who asked me, and I quote, "what is an okra?":rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao:

:crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2:

sorry but it's just gross to me

I say yay--I mean, it is fried, which means it's probably gonna taste pretty good regardless of what it is--but it's not something I'm going to go out of my way to find. :)

True. Most things fried are delicious. But I even love those puppies steamed! MMMmmmm, mmmm, good!:woohoo:

I have never met a piece of okra I won't eat.....:p

I like it fried, boiled and in all sorts or recipes! Of course, I will eat pretty much anything.....

Fried ANYTHING is disgusting to me...I just don't do fried foods.

Vegetables are just fine on their own, without deep frying, thank you. :)

You CAN NOT be from the South.....:sad2:
:lmao: :lmao:

I grew up in Montana but often visited relatives in TX. They'd fry okra right out of their gardens with a little corn meal. Really good. I'll eat the Okra they serve in restaurants etc but it isn't as good as fresh. Never tried to do it on my own. A college friend loved pickled okra but I just couldn't go there.

You are CORRECT, ma'am! ;) I am not from the South; Midwest born, West coast living for many years.

To each their own when it comes to food! :thumbsup2

You do not have to necessarily fry okra. You can bread it in cornmeal and bake it, thank you.;)

never heard of it before :confused3

Okra (also known as gumbo), is a tall-growing, warm-season, annual vegetable from the same family as hollyhock, rose of Sharon and hibiscus. The immature pods are used for soups, canning and stews or as a fried or boiled vegetable. The hibiscus like flowers and upright plant (3 to 6 feet or more in height) have ornamental value for backyard gardens.

sounds like how I like my eggplant... so I think I would love it!
