I need a recipe for fried ice cream (that you don't actually have to fry!). I made it once before in high school but I lost the recipe.

I do remember that we made it in a casserole dish. It had cornflakes in the mixture (cant remember what else!) and you layered it. Layer of ice cream, layer of mixture, repeat.

Thanks in advance if you can help!

On her show 30 minute meals, Rachel Ray made fried ice cream...
Maybe do a search of the show to find it...It looked good...

this is the recipe I have you do fry it though :)

A copy cat recipe ...
El Chico Fried Ice Cream

1 qt. vanilla ice cream
1 cup corn flake crumbs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Also:
Chocolate syrup
Whipped cream
Maraschino cherries
Oil

Prepare 5 hours in advance ... Combine crumbs, sugar, and cinnamon in a shallow pan. Let ice cream soften slightly for 5 minutes. Make 6 balls of ice cream, roll in crumb mixture until well coasted, pressing coating into ice cream. Wrap in almiumim foil and freeze for 5 hours.

Heat oil to 450 degrees. Unwrap each ball and fry in hot oil VERY BRIEFLY, about 2 seconds. Place in dessert dish, decorate with toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. Serve immediately.

These sound delicious! Im making it to take to school for our Cinco de Mayo party on Friday. (I may have to make a batch for myself!!!)

Oh and here is one you don't have to actually fry if anyone is interested:

Fried Ice Cream
(serves 6)

Ingredients
1 quart good vanilla ice cream, softened slightly
1 cup corn flakes, crushed
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
honey or chocolate sauce
whipped cream

Directions
Combine corn flake crumbs, sugar and cinnamon in a shallow pan. With any ice cream scoop, make 6 ice cream balls. Roll ice cream balls in sugared crumbs; place on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Freeze for 5 hours. Five minutes before serving take ice cream out of freezer. Place each ice cream ball on a serving plate and garnish with honey or chocolate and whipped cream.

ETA: I guess it is the same as the one above, without the frying!
