Can anyone tell me where at WDW I can get my daughter fried dough. Not funnel cakes or churros, but real fried dough? Thank you :)

I honestly can't think of anywhere in Disney.

There are a million other sweets to chose from everywhere though.

You might have to go to a church or county fare to find it. (Ours here in PA have it all the time).

You can get frozen bread dough at the grocery store, thaw it and let it rise then fry a some in a skillet with oil and toss in sugar.
If you do that every day before your trip, she should get her fill before you go and you won't have to worry about it.
(my mom used to do this with Mcdonald's food before our trips to disney so he would be sick of it and we wouldn't have to eat it during out trip..lol).

I'm pretty sure there isn't fried dough there, just funnel cakes and churros.

I think you may have found the one dessert or pastry Disney actually doesn't offer anywhere on property!

pardon my ignorance...but what is fried dough???I immediately thought you were talking about funnel cake but then I read the entire sentence.

we like the beignets at POFQ...that's fried dough (and covered with powdered sugar.)

Not fried bread dough, though.

The puffed french toast at Crystal Palace breakfast just tasted like fried dough with sugar on it (I didn't think it resembled "french toast" at all...deep fried puffy bread sprinkled with gran. sugar.)

Ignorance has found company.... I hear fried dough and I think of Krisby Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, or Entenmann's donuts. What is fried dough?

No worries, fried dough is pretty much simply what it states it is, a piece of dough flour-water mixture, that has been deep fried. Most people add powdered sugar and or cinnamon to it, some add other toppings like warm apples, cherries or other pie type fillings. If you have ever had a begneit (spelling?) you have pretty much had fried dough.

its like a elephant ear you get a fair right? usually coated in butter and cinnamon sugar its been awhile since I've had one. I haven't seen them at disney

Yes. That's exactly what they are.

I don't believe you'll find them at WDW, however. Funnel cakes & churros for sure, but no fried dough I'm afraid.

BTW, fried dough is one of my must-haves when I go home to Maine for a visit. :lovestruc

Totally. Though to my mind (perhaps it's because I was reading threads while watching "Losing It With Jillian") the first thing I pictured was "Fry Bread" - which is HORRIBLE for you. *shudder* And I didn't need Jillian's deconstruction of it to tell me that.

I am not sure if they are still sold in Canada area of Epcot, but they called them "Beaver Tails". They were sold at a small kiosk.

Thank you all for your replies! There is a HUGE difference between funnel cake and fried dough! The times I've had funnel cake it's been crispier/drier than fried dough which is tender/moist - YUMMY!

She swears she had it over at Sleepy Hollow last June, but all I can find online is funnel cake :( Getting it at home is definitely not the same as getting it at Disney :cool1: Maybe we'll have to venture over to POFQ!

Thanks again ...

TOTALLY agree that they're different. I just happen to love them both. :rotfl:

I would LOVE some real fried dough myself!!! I moved down to South Carolina for school in 2004, then to FL to work at disney, and then to VA where I am currently. I swear since I left Massachusetts I have not been able to find fried dough anywhere :headache:

If you look at the new menu for Via Napoli, the new restaurant opening in Italy in the WS at Epcot, on one of the threads here, they list zeppoles (sp?) for dessert, not exactly sure what kind of dough it is, but it is along the lines of what you are looking for, I think?

The beignets at POFQ are delicious!

Fried dough = zeppoles. That's exactly what u are looking. 4.:thumbsup2
