I know I'm a little early, but I thought I would canvas the group for information.

We're currently caught between which night of the week to have out at-home reception. The big question is: Friday or Saturday?

Friday - you have issues with people who work until 4:30/5:00pm (or Later)
- lower costs and minimums
Saturday - if guests have to stay overnight, you take most of the weekend
- higher costs and minimums

Any input would be much appreciated. TIA!

I thoroughly understand the desire to have a Friday reception but here's just my two cents.... (since your talking at home and not destination)

I've attended 2 friday receptions, one as a guest and one as a bridesmaid. As a guest, I had to leave work early to get there and felt rushed. It was hard to get the time off work to come, not everyone has flexible jobs. As a bridesmaid, I had to take the whole day off which didn't leave me as flustered but I was lucky to get the day off..another bridesmaid wasn't. At both, I was exhausted by 9:00 and didn't feel like partying. Because as a guest I had been at work most of the day.
I will add that I am 25 and these experiences are from when I was 19 and 22, so age has nothing to do with it!
All that aside, I was happy for the couple, understood why they chose Friday....but if they had asked me I would have told them Saturday:laughing:

Hi! It all depends on how strict your budget is... Personally, I love Saturday receptions because you can make a weekend of it... However, Friday, you might be able to get more elements in that you may want... Good luck deciding! We eventually decided on Saturday :)

I prefer Saturday for most of the reasons mentioned above. Maybe to reduce minimums you could opt for a Saturday morning or afternoon instead? We went with Saturday evening to give our guests time to arrive at their hotels, check in and get ready without having to rush.
