Friday night stay

We'll be going in December, can't book yet til next month though.

We plan to take a flight out of RDU on Friday the 9th and will land after 10pm, so not worth wasting points then. We'll also probably rent a car too.

Where should we stay? Onsite or Off? Any recommendations/prices?

I would recommend one of the Value resorts. You can leave your luggage under the windows in the morning and the luggage fairies will move it to the DVC resort for you.

We've stayed at POP century and I get up early the next AM and check in. Depending on the villas you're staying in, you may have the opportunity to select from a choice of rooms or get a room that will be available early. We just like to wake up at Disney. That said, a night at POP can be over $100 in certain seasons if there's no discounts. If it seems silly to spend that, there's less expensive rooms off grounds. If there's room-only codes available, it could be ~ $60 in December.

It kind of depends on what you plan to do the next day. If you want to get up and get to the parks, it's probably better to stay on grounds. Disney will transfer your luggage for you, or put it in your trunk, if you do get a car.

I agree, it you want to go to the parks, stay onsite. We arrived late one Saturday, but were leisurely driving to Vero Beach. We took the shuttle to a Hampton Inn by the airport, crashed, and shuttled back the next morning to pick up the rental car. Saved us a day in price. Then, we went to DTD and shopped befroe heading down to check in at 4pm.
