I would love to join in on the cruise line chat but each time I try to log in to the chatroom I get a screen freeze and then get bumped right out of AOL. Does anyone else have this problem?
I'm new to this so I appreciate any help.. thanks

Hi Naturally Me - I see this is your first post - Welcome to the DIS Boards as a poster.

The problem you are experiencing is typical of AOL. I had AOL before having a cable modem installed. The way it was explained to me was that the Internet Explorer that was installed iwth AOL is not a "full" copy. This is what is causing the problems. There are two alternatives to using ICHAT with AOL.

The first is to toggin using JAVA. This takes a long time to load (10 minutes for me) but once I got in - I had absolutely no problems.

The second is to download a copy of Netscape Navigator off the web. Boot up in AOL to connect. Next minimize the AOL screens and double click Netscape Navigator. This way you will be using your AOL account to access the web, but using Netscape to navigate. This will allow you to use ichat.

I have AOL myself. Unfortunately, our new chat room is not compatible with AOL users opening Netscape. You will have to open Internet Explorer and download the latest version of Ichat, which I did the other night. Choose the one applicable to Internet Explorer.

You will then be able to use our new chat room. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Carol,
I did download Netscape this morning and a window came up which told me to download some Java plugin. I downloaded and installed the plugin and I am able to get into the chatroom with AOL using Netscape. I believe it's a new version of Netscape for Windows XP and AOL 7.0 (which is what I am using). I am also able to get into the chatroom logging in just using the JAVA option without a problem and the wait was no longer than 30 seconds.

As of two nights ago, you could not use Aol and Netscape together in the chat room. The new chat room will stay closed and not allow you to view the text. We recommend you use the method I described above. It took us quite a while to figure it out but the IE and ichat will now work with the new DIS chat room. Good luck

I can log into the chat and it tells me that I am in the "Disney Topics" room but I can't see the posts. I can check who is online but I see NO posts.......any ideas?

You were right... The AOL/Netscape didn't work for me. I did download the plugin for Ichat for Internet Explorer and everything worked fine. Thanks so much for your help.
