Friday Drive to Carlsbad - what time?

What would be the best time to leave Disneyland (best being relative - there is no good time to leave) to go to Carlsbad on a Friday? I know traffic on Fridays in that area can be especially bad. Check in at our new hotel is at 4. I was planning on leaving around 2, but hate to be stuck in too much traffic. Opinions?

IMO you are sunk no matter what time you leave! We do that trip often, because we have friends in Cardiff. Use the restroom before you leave, and prepare the kids for the long haul!
