I woke up at 7:00 AM and started the day with aspirin, coffee and no voice. Oh yeah, I’m sick now too.

I talked my equally sick DH into breakfast at Cape May. We got down there at 10:15 AM and had to wait about 15 minutes. It was packed. I thought it would have thinned out by then. My DH didn’t realize it was a character breakfast. He doesn’t like trying to carry on a conversation with “those who can’t talk back”. The buffet was great and we both had a couple of rounds of refills. Once again we had lots of OJ. I guess we’re still optimistic that the Vitamin C will do us good.

Minnie, Goofy and Dale stopped by our table. I got another bad picture of Minnie and my DH. I keep hoping I can get another picture of those two to replace the one I keep on my desk at work. It’s almost 10 years old now and people who don’t know my DH are starting to wonder if I robbed the cradle.

After breakfast we walked to the International Gateway and sat on a bench until the World Showcase opened. Then we went to the first showing of the France Movie. If I had to pick my one and only favorite thing at WDW, this would be it. It always makes me smile. And the CM who introduced the show was very “up” and quite the joker. A bit unusual for a French CM. I proudly raised my hand when he asked if anyone had been to Paris. He said it was the City of Love until he left to come to Orlando!

Then we walked to the American Pavilion. It was a little while until the show so we looked at the African art exhibit. My DH thought the antelope made from bicycle parts was “interesting”.

After the American Adventure at the American Pavilion, we walked around the World Showcase and I tried to show my DH all the things I had learned over the last few years in all the backstage tours I’ve taken. He didn’t care for the sundial thing in Morocco but he was intrigued by the fake bird sounds in Norway. And he really didn’t like the Stave Church. He said “I’m Norwegian and I think it’s boring.” He did like the ceiling in the temple in China but was unimpressed that I knew the piece of landscaping on the right side of Mexico was supposed to represent a rain forest.

We rode the Mexico boat ride and still couldn’t come up with a cohesive story line for the ride. But my DH did decide that the fireworks at the end of the ride were obviously a celebration of Mexican sales techniques. Much better than my story line about evil dolls taking over and encouraging tourism.

We sat outside the Odyssey “restaurant” and discussed Mission: Space. I was up for it but was unsure how my DH would handle it and I didn’t want him to be any sicker on his last vacation day. So we skipped it and walked back to our room at the BCV. The maid still hadn’t come yet so we decided that we were both well enough to go to the MK.

The first thing we did in the MK was get a FP for PP. And then we rode HM and PotC. Then we sat outside the dole whip place and ate a Mickey Ice Cream bar and had some popcorn.

On our way back to Fantasyland, we saw Pocahontas. Not the most native of Americans, I thought. But my DH couldn’t take his eyes off of her. I finally tore him away from her long enough to go to Mickey’s Philharmagic. He really liked the show and I saw him smiling when Donald hit the wall. I still think it’s a great show but I was too sick to really smell anything. My DH was so stuffy that he didn’t even know that they were trying to do “smell-a-vision”.

Then we used our PP FP and headed back to the car. I called to make a PS for dinner at the San Angel Inn while we were on the tram. I had to apologize to the CM I was talking to several times. Not the best place to have a phone conversation.

When we got back to the BCV, we rested. I decided I better try the Jacuzzi in our room since we had paid for it. It was so relaxing. If we hadn’t had PS for dinner, I would have just gone to sleep. But I knew I also didn’t want to miss watching Illuminations with my DH for the first time in several years.

We walked to the San Angel Inn and my DH commented on how great it was to have our hotel be so close to Epcot since it is our favorite park. I ordered the one and only veggie entrée. Neither of us had alcohol on the whole trip except the one glass of wine I had had at the California Grill. I wish I could have gotten my DH liquored up because we started to discuss future vacations and he wasn’t in an agreeable mood. Oh well.

After dinner, we found a pretty good spot between Canada and the UK to watch Illuminations. It was great fun to see it through my DH’s eyes. I’ve seen it by myself so many times over the last few years that I’ve almost become immune to it…. almost. It’s still my favorite way to end a vacation at WDW and even better when I’ve got someone I love to share it with.

Sounds like a jam packed vacation-even if you were sick. Hope your colds didn't stay too long :)
