Fresh Out of University and Onwards to Disney!!!An August PTR!!!(Last Update 8/26)

You've got lots of stuffed planned for the next couple of years. Looks like you're all set :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your car. I hope the damage wasn't too extensive. Is it still safe to drive? If so, just use some duct tape to hold it all together :rotfl: Maybe post some pictures so I could give you a bit better advice.

That's so nice of you to plan a cruise for your parents! I've never been on the Eastern side of the Caribbean but if you can get St. Lucia or St. Maarten into the itinerary, that's really good.

I'd agree with the other two ladies, don't rent a car in Vegas. You'll find enough to do in the immediate area. :goodvibes

You have to be 25 to rent a car in the US. At least in my experiance that is what has happened to me. I'm finally old enough to rent a car. :P

Because of the economic times most Vegas hotels are really really cheap. But if your staying on the strip you really don't need a car. Unless you plan on leaving the strip. There is so much to see and do there that it's kind of a waste to have one. I go to Vegas ........ A LOT. My FIL lives there. So, can you do Vegas on the cheap heck ya! We go to the Bellagio Buffet cause it's got everything you can imagine or want. And if they don't have it they'll cook it for you.

I saw a few shows in Vegas. Some of the Adult ones. I liked Zumanity and I liked Bite at the Stratosphere. I've also enjoyed The Lion King that is at the Mandalay Bay. Vegas is great! We are going for the 4th of July! I can't wait just one more month!

I REALLY wanted to go on one of the rides at the Stratosphere. But even getting up there cost too much! Wow, you get to go so soon!

Hey Yuki! Big update - lots of cool future plans you got going there!

Yes, you do have to be 25 to rent a car at most major car rental companies, but there used to be one or two that would rent to a 21 year old, although at a premium. I'll check into it and see if that's still the case. Although, you'd probably get off cheaper taking the occasional cab. Staying on the strip - you won't need it much.

Thanks, that would be great of you to help me check into it. It's hard to find info and nobody here in Canada is very sure.

Yeah, I'll post up some pictures.

I've been planning to send my parents on a cruise for a while. I know my mom loves it. St.Lucia huh? I'll keep that in mind.

About the renting a car thing, the last time I was there, it was August and my family rented a car. We tried to walk from one hotel to the other and was just DEFEATED by the heat :sad2: The distances between the hotels are a lot farther than I thought. Having a rental made it a lot easier to get around the hotels.

Next year, I'll be going in mid-October, so maybe the heat will be easier to bear?

It is kind of expensive but http://www.vegas.com/ will give you some really good deals sometimes if you look around. I know some places offer a ticket book for their rides you just pay a certain amount and then you don't have all the extra fees.

But like I said I would just walk the strip because that premium is gonna cost you. And if you do get a car even with the premium I'd recommend getting insurance just in case.

I got tickets to a Lion King for $50 from there.

Chapter 20. Future trips!

If anyone has sailed to the Eastern Caribbeans, can you let me know about your experiences? Which cities should I choose for them to go to? I hear a lot about St.Thomas and St.Maarten. There are so many options. I want my parents to go to places that will have things for them to do. They like visiting historical places and walking trails and shopping (well, my mom does). I'm planning to send them on a 7-night cruise.

....

I went on DCL when I was younger and we stopped in both St.Thomas and St. Maartin. They were both really really beautiful and there were plenty of shopping, beaches and other excursions. You should deffinetly look in to it!!!

Only 72 days!!!:cool1::banana::woohoo::cheer2::yay:

Ooh, I practically lived on that site when I planned our last trip there. :surfweb: We went with a package from our TA. I'll have to check out the prices for the shows.

I remember we got pretty nice seats at David Copperfield's show on the day of, for $80!

I know there's a tram of some sort on the trip....is there a pass I can buy for that? If not, how much are the tickets?

OMG, only 72 days! Wow......almost just 2 months until our trip. It feels so close! :cool1:

Thanks for the tip on those cities. :thumbsup2 I really had no idea where to start with it.

Chapter 21. I dreamed a dream

...that I was at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with my Potter-crazy little sister.

Recently, I watched a video about what happens at Ollivanders (which is SUPER cool :wizard:). In my dream, I was right there in that shop.

I walked around, video taping the place and talking about how cool and detailed it was. Then, my sister disappears into a 40 minute () attraction.

To which I think, "I'll just go around to the other shops and come back for her later". I walk out of the store, and find myself "backstage" somewhere....

I head toward the doors of a place. As I walk through it, I'm convinced I'm in the World of Disney Store.

So convinced, as I was video-taping it, I said, "This is the World of Disney store. I just know it. How? I'm just that awesome." I'm serious, that's what I said in my dream, word for word. Big ego much?

Then....somehow....I'm at the ToonTown Hall of Fame :confused3

I remember clearly thinking, "Wait...I'm supposed to be at Epcot on my first day. I have to go back to get my sister." For a second, I considered texting her, but decided not to waste the money and just head back.

I wake up after that.

So, I'm sure we ALL have some WDW related dream at some point in our planning (or reminiscing) of a trip. What's the most recent one you can think of?

The strange thing for me is, I've been having these string of dreams for a LONG time now. Since I started to get serious into my planning about a year and a half ago.

Actually...they're all more like....nightmares....until recently.

The first one was about me forgetting that I was leaving on THAT day. Trying to rush to the airport as soon as I can. :headache:

The next ones were always about me forgetting to pack something important. :sad2:

After that, the dreams were about me getting on the wrong plane or not being able to FIND the right gate.

The one before this dream, I was riding the monorail, and say, "LOOK! It's the Magic Kingdom!" :cool1:

So...it gets a little better? I'm sure we all have those planning-related nightmares.

But the good thing is, they actually remind me to pay more attention to my packing. Like adding an item to my packing list, or writing down extra notes so I don't mess up like I do in my dreams. HOORAY! :cheer2:

Haha! I've had dreams like that, but I don't remember much from them.

I think it's that you want the trip to go so well, that you worry something will go wrong, and thus, the anxiety comes out in your dreams. :thumbsup2 But it will all go well.

*crosses fingers* Let's hope!

Before my first Disney trip with my sibs and no parents, I had NO WORRIES at all. But then about a week before it, I start getting these nightmares about bad things happening, and I started to worry BIG time :headache:

It turned out alright ofcourse. Hm...I wonder how closely I'll be able to stick to my plans.... After years of planning every hour when I'm an a convention, I've started to loosen up about missing panels and events and just doing something completely unplanned

Ok Peeps, I've started a thread about an August Dismeet. Link to it in my signature. Give some suggestions for meet-up times!

Chapter 22. I love postcards!

Finally, an update kind of related to my trip!

On my last trip to WDW, I bought myself a bunch of postcards, with the INTENTION of sending them to my friends after I get home (because I forgot stamps and my hotel didn't sell them?).

Well.....they never got sent. :rolleyes1

So NOW, I have a couple of postcards, 6 to be exact, that are just sitting pretty here with me.

My question to you folks is...who wants a WDW postcard???

If you're interested, please send me a PM with your name and address and one will be on the way! I can even send it to a friend of yours, if that person needs some Disney magic in their life, or it can be addressed to your child if you have an upcoming trip. Better yet, it can be from Mickey's vacation home in Canada! :rotfl:

EDIT: I have 3 postcards left to send!

I LOVE Postcards. I really do. They're inexpensive, can come in really cute shapes, make great souvenirs, and who doesn't love getting them in the mail?

What I've planned to do on this trip is to pack stamps and have a list of people's addresses for me to send them to.

If you'd like to be added to that list, let me know! I'd be more than happy to send you one. There is just so much variety to choose from! If you have a preference, I can even pick that up for you!

Now...what am I going to do with those SeaWorld and Universal Studios postcards.....Hm...

Hey Yuki! Great idea thinking ahead on the postcards!

I too have Disney dreams. Usually I'm frantic and everything is going wrong, but every once in a while I'll have a really GOOD Disney dream. Ahhhh, those are the best - you just don't want to wake up!

I know exactly what you mean Becca! But the good ones are few and far in between. It's those bad ones that are recurring. Ahh, the dilemma of an ODP

Would you like me to send your girls a postcard?

Hi Yuki! Please forgive me for being so late to your PTR!

I love that you are so into anime/gaming etc. I am too to same degree. Usually my brothers try out the shows and games first and then let me know if they think I will like it. :rotfl:

I think it is adorable that you dress up for conventions.

Don't know what to say about your boyfriend's father other than he is a butthead. :headache: It is too bad about convocation, if you had come we could have had a Dismeet!

YOU GRADUATED THIS YEAR FROM QUEEN'S TOO???? What a super small world this is. Oh my gosh, that would've been SO COOL.

And don't worry about being late! Better late than never!

And yes, he is a very big butthead.

 No, I graduated from Queen's a few years ago but I still work and live here. ;)

Ohhh! So we could still have bumped into each other...

I visited him a lot over the last 3 years. Maybe we've actually seen each other but just didn't know it!

Chapter 23. TSM closure confirmed =(

I just received my Undercover Tourist newsletter.

TSM will be closed from August 16th-28th.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT?????????????????? It pretty much perfectly wraps around the week I will be there!

:sad2: I'm so sad.....One of the reasons why I started wearing contacts is so I could experience TSM better!

BOOOOOOOOOO! Oh poopers...... *kicks the imaginary dust on my floor*

But good news. Star Tours won't be closed until September! So I'll still be able to experience it before the refurb! Yaay :cool1:

There doesn't seem to be any plans for Toontown closing yet. I hope I'll have a chance to go through that before they close it for the expansion *crosses fingers*.

MAJOR bummer! It's as if the Disney gods are displeased with me for going during that week :(
