French Wedding Officiant?

Hello everybody!!!

So many details, so little time!!!!
Does anybody know of a wedding officiant that could do the ceremony in french? We are getting married in may 2007 and so far my wedding planner hasn't found anybody. A part of my fiancee's family does not speak english. Disney was nice enough to have the save the date translated in french, but I would like them to enjoy the ceremony too!!

I was told that in Florida anyone who is a notary can legally marry people. Maybe you can find a French speaking notary. Also, you might want to have a bi-lingual member of the family stand up with the officiant and translate during the ceremony.

Tinkerbelle...if you can't find anyone to do the ceremony in French, try translating the words and print them for your French speaking guests to read along. A freind of mine did that in Italian for some of her guests and it made a nice keepsake for those family members.

Try The Knot they have all kinds of information. That is where I got my officiant for my wedding, it wasn't in o-town but you can look by different locations. Good luck!!!

I'm resurrecting a 3+ years old thread and requesting the help of the Disney Wedding specialists on the DIS.

We are currently planning our disney wedding (May 1st 2011) and are looking for a wedding officiant who could do the ceremony in French.

We are planning a private Escape wedding with 10-12 guests and none of them could act as an officiant for the ceremony.

The idea offered by DLR2WDW about translating the texts and printing them would definitely make for a great contingency plan, but the ideal solution would be to find someone who could officiate in French.

If anybody know where we could find a French speaking officiant please let us know, this would help us a LOT!

This may sound like a wild idea but have you thought of asking some of the people who work in the French section at Epcot if they by chance might know someone? Or you could ask someone who works at a French restaurant, maybe they might know someone who knows someone, you can never tell and it doesn't hurt to ask.

We definitely would if we could, but we live in Canada and our next WDW vacation will be for the wedding on may 2011.

We are hoping to find a bilangual officiant (English/French) to perform the ceremony. If we don't find anybody, we'll probably end up translating the texts.
