Am staying at Port Orleans French Quarter for a couple of nights on my next trip and have some questions. Have not been since the renovation. How are the grounds? What about the rooms? Which buildings are non-smoking? Do they have the shuttle boat to DTD? If so, when does it start and end? Does it still drop you off over by Capn' Jacks? How often does it run? How is the pool? What about dining there? How is check-in? How about the bus transportation? The last time I stayed there, they sometimes share buses with POR. Do they still do this? Do they do this during busier times of the year (like Thanksgiving weekend)? How is the luggage transfer there? I'm splitting my stay and was wondering how long it would take to get the luggage from one resort to the other (POFQ to WL). Is it easier just to take a cab to the next resort (won't be renting a car)?

Wow, that's a lot, but I'll try to help. We stayed at Riverside, but visited FQ.
The grounds were beautiful. Very well kept.
Buildings 2 and 4 and the top 2 floors of 6 are smoking.
Boat to DtD departs every 20 minutes 11a-4p and every 10 minutes 4p-11p.
It dropped us off near the Rainforest Cafe in Market Place.
Still shared bus with POR, but we had no problems with busses.
We transferred from POR to Poly. No problems. We checked out at 11:00 and our luggage was at Poly by 2:30.
You could take a cab or a transfer at DtD if you needed to. I'd go for the cab.

Hope that helps!

Was just there, grounds were really nice, we stayed in Building 7, non smoking facing the parking lot, It was really noisy, buses idle all day. I thought the room was nice we had 1st floor, We checked all the buildings out. Building 4 in my opinion seemed like the nicest one as far as views. Some had the perfect locations. I did the boat ride to DTD, Very nice, was really surprised to see The Tree House Villas being used by college students, they have been closed for years. We walked to Boatwrights for breakfast at Port Orleans Riverside, Very good breakfast, ate there 2 times out of 4, the other 2 days had a 40 minute wait and didn't want to wait that long. Took pictures of the pretty cool pool, but the weather was too cold for me to swim. Enjoy! :) The Busses were great ,pick up at FQ first then Riverside, real quick and one morning only took 10 minutes to M.K.! Hah that was not the case coming back some nights,no complaints on the bus service, we had great timing!

Let's see. The grounds are very pretty. We really liked it. It was nice and quaint.

The rooms were nice too. Loved having that curtain to seperate the room from the sink/bathroom area.

They do have the boat to DTD, if I remember correctly its on the back path near the pool. The pool was very nice and lots of fun too. Check-in was fine.

The dining was ok. The food court was a lot smaller in food choices then I had seen before. Mostly in the refridgerated items where you can find sub sandwiches and jello. Things of that nature. Other than that the hot food was good.

Busses did share with Riverside and most people say that FQ gets picked up and dropped off first. We were there Oct this year and this was not the case, I think we were dropped off 1 time first out of our 7 days there, Riverside was first.

Nice resort.

I loved my stay there last year. The grounds were lovely--fairly lush and well kept up. The theming was the best part--it is so Disney there...you even hear the Bayou sounds through speakers by the jacuzzi.

The rooms were very nice and well coordinated. Cute decor and clean. We had a second floor corner room w/ a view of the river. There is definitely a boat that goes to DTD...I remember picking it up at POR instead so I didn't notice where it stops at POFQ (we walked over to Riverside and then took a bus out to a theme park...sorry I can't remember better). Disney transfers your luggage--it usually gets to the second resort in the early afternoon. You don't need to take a cab...just take a bus to the MK and then the boat over to WL. Your luggage will meet you at WL!

we are there now - tonight was MVMCP and they had seperate buses going from FQ to MK and Riverside to MK so I am sure they do that for the busier times.

We were just there in November. Actually our first trip to WDW ever was to FQ in 1999. Between then and last month, we hadn't been back but have stayed all over the resorts (YC, BW, AKL, Poly, WL, POP, POR, CBR, POP, Dolphin).

I have to say I thought the POFQ room was beautiful. Every bit as elegant as YC or BW but of course different theme--old world Lousiana. I do miss having a vanity instead of pedestal sinks but that's the only place that I see they scrimped in the decor. Nice size TV and Fridge. We had a King room and there was lots of space.

I will have no problem going back to FQ in future!

NOISY?? wow, we have never heard of POFQ being noisy. that must have been an off time. we went and it was very quiet. usually most reviews say how quiet it is.

We just returned this week from POFQ and had a marvelous time. We were in building 1 which is the furthest from the pool and the bus stop but very very quiet. I think the buses "stage" between buildings 6 and 7 because I could see them parked there as we drove by in our bus.

We took magical express there. Landed at 11:10 and were in our room by 12:15. Went to DTD via the boat for lunch, came back at 3:30 and our luggage was there.

Mousekeeping was good: fresh soap and towels every day before we returned from the parks for the mid-afternoon rest. $2 tip per day.

We were always picked up first and dropped off first and then the bus went to Riverside. Only once did we have our own bus. I think our maximum wait time was 10-15 minutes.

Only ate at the foodcourt once and it is rather small. But for breakfast or a snack, it's fine.

Grounds are lovely with fountains and tons of flowers and walkways. It was very cool so the pool was not much in use but it's neat, with the slide for the kids.

A magical trip!

The only problem with the curtain is that I kept bumping my head on that stupid little pole thing that you use to pull it open and closed! :) Just make sure you never leave it half-open and you'll take care of this problem.

FQ is a lovely resort--small, convenient and quiet. You'll love it!

Thanks everyone for your input. Am really getting excited for this trip. I know it's not until next year, but it's gives me something to look forward to. Am really looking forward to staying at the French Quarter. It's my favorite moderate! I really enjoy the fact that it is compact in size, so it's pretty quick getting places.

I was thinking of requesting a room in building #: 5, as this looks pretty central.

I have seen quite a few people saying building 4 is smoking, however we stayed in Building 4 in a corner room during October and it was definitely non-smoking as were the rooms next to it. By the way we LOVED POFQ and building 4 was a fantastic location. It was near to everything. Hope you have a great trip. ::MinnieMo

WE loved it. Very quiet and clean. Our room was very nice. We had a slow bathtub drain that was quickly fixed after we called. The check in was okay, it just takes time with four other families ahead of us as we did magical express. I would take a taxi to move resorts. Have a good trip!
