We love disney and values resorts but with our youngest turning 3 it is time to move to a moderate resort. I called and a disney agent recommended porfq. I didnt even know 5 could stay there. So I am super excited learning all about the new resort. Does anyone have any tips to share with us about porfq?

That is awesome that you can now have 5 in a room at FQ! Did they put you in a specific section or view? Or is the whole resort now ok for 5 in a room since they remodeled?

You will love FQ it is our favorite moderate. Don't forget you can use the pool up at Riverside. The FQ is a little small and slide a little lame for the older kiddo's. You can take the boat either up to Riverside or down to DTD.

Don't forget the night life up at Riverside and at FQ.

The beignets are delicious and sometimes if you stop in late in the evening you can get a double order for the price of a regular (I guess as they are closing and throwing them out if they're not eaten;))

Have a great time!

HI. We just stayed at POFQ for Christmas and had a wonderful time. Our favorite moderate has always been CSR but have to say that FQ definitely moved up on our list of favs. They now have a campfire every night that is between bldg 6 and the river. Lots of fun. They also show movies in the courtyard area. If you want, there are carriage rides that start and end at POR which is just a 5 minute walk away, or you can take a bus. The pool is nice with a fun slide that a 3yo will enjoy. The pool over at POR is a little better for older kids but FQ's is still fun. The only disadvantage is that FQ doesn't have it's own TS restaurant but the one at POR is really good. The Food court area is good with better choices that the delux resort food courts. You can also take a boat to DTD.

I just want to caution you that unless one of the 5 is in a crib I don't think you can stay at FQ. You can stay at POR though. They have a trundle bed for the 5th person -- just make sure it's a small child.

EIther resort will be fun -- you will be at Disney

I just talked to a Disney agent and she said the only moderate resort that can take 5 people is Port Orleans Riverside - alligator bayou section. We are a family of 5 as well, so I wanted to check on it.

I was just coming back to my above post to caution the op to call back and make sure the CM didn't have it wrong. It's so easy to misspeak and be thinking Riverside and say French Quarter. OP do make sure you check again, maybe you can have 5 in a room at FQ now? Although it's always only been Riverside that allows 5 for the moderates.

When I called I told the agent we were a family of 5 youngest will be 3. I originally asked for riverside knowing they have a trundle bed. But riverside b was booked for the free dining pin I have. The agent looked around and offered me the garden view at french quarter. She said it had a bed that pulls down from the ceiling. But was only recommended for kids under 9. I hope she is right. The 3 year old usually just sleeps on the floor on a sleeping bag so I dont care about the extra bed. But I dont want disney to kick me out.

Once again you were given misinformation from Disney's crack reservation people. POFQ cannot hold 5 in a room. POR can in the Alligator Bayou section. This may be where the confusion is. POR has 2 sections, Alligator Bayou and Mansions.

I would call back and verify you will have 5 in a room, don't mention the 3 year olds age, just ask about the 5 in a room.

The first CM could have been thinking 3 and under, but I'm pretty sure the rule is under 3 kwim?

FQ is a gorgeous resort but I'm like you I would NOT want to get there and be checking in and be refused kwim! :scared1:

The room that has that pull down murphy bed is at Port Orleans Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section, NOT at Port Orleans French Quarter! The CM you spoke to is wrong. Perhaps she was under the impression 3 year olds are allowed, but it's under 3 years old, NOT 3 years old. I hate it when CM's give out the wrong info like this!

You can NOT have 5 in the room at POFQ unless one is aged 2 or under. Once they are 3, this is not possible. OP, you were given the wrong information. Only POR-AB can have 5 in the rooms.

On phone now with disney. The agent was wrong. Now I have to try and fix my ressie. So frustrating.

disney said they will give me a room at riverside since agent misinformed me. Thanks disers for the heads up.

So sorry this happened to you but I am so happy that Disney is making it right for you!

I am not surprised that the agent gave her the wrong info. I am surprised that she said the bed pulls down from the ceiling. Even at Riverside the bed slides out from under the main beds. It's not even a Murphy Bed. I keep trying to envision a bed that pulls down from the ceiling. Too funny.

Actually, this is wrong also for the most part, the new refurb is giving the AB rooms a murphy-type bed instead of the pull-out trundle. You can see the photos on the Port Orleans website.
