We decided to do a spur of the moment trip this weekend and I finally convinced dh to try the Wilderness Lodge, but they had no availability this weekend, so they offered me AKL but I didn't really want that, but they also offered the French Quarter and we've really enjoyed Riverside before so I booked that, I'm sure we'll like it and dd is excited about the "dragon pool". Anyway I guess I'd like some reassurance that I'm not going to be sad I'm not at the WL.

As I see it..........It was out of your control. If yo chose to not go you would not be at the Lodge either...You will be at Disney... It was an unplanned trip so it is a bonus........Why not have a special dinner to celebrate the good that has come your way that there was a room freshly renovated.........I am a glass is 1/2 full kind of gal so that is what I would do.........Be happy that it happened at all...... Life is too short for what ifs, Have fun.......

Same thing happened to me last week-end no room at the Lodge...we visited twice first we visited Friday night and then took the boat to Ft. Wilderness and had a late dinner at Trails End, just as we where leaving the EWP started over at the Campground we stayed and watched as we boarded the boat back to the Lodge Wishes started and we could see all the higher fireworks as we traveled across Bay Lake.. Sunday morning we made a PS for breakfast at WCC so it was nice visiting. :p

I have never stayed at WL but have at several other deluxes-
Two months ago we were staying with relatives in a time share. At the last minute we decided to stay an extra day b/c I needed my onsite Disney fix. Stayed at POFQ and LOVED it! The kids loved the pool. The resort has just been refurbished. I was very impressed. So, enjoy and just look at the money you will save.

Your subject line made me smile, as I am in a similar situation...

I already had reservations for POFQ and just two nights ago called to see if I could get WL...It was booked for this weekend but, I was able to get the FL res. rate for next weekend (Thu-Sat). So, I am at POFQ first and then on to the WL for a few days.

Not sure how old your kids are but, when we went to POFQ two years ago, my DS (then 6) loved the pool. I really liked the hotel too, I thought the theming was cute and loved that the resort was compact so everything was fairly close to the main building.

I also loved that the busses picked up and dropped off POFQ passengers first so we usually got a seat on the bus...

I'm sure you'll have a great time... !

We just returned from 10 nights at the POFQ and we absolutely LOVED it. Bus service was the best we've ever experienced, nice compact layout, great food court, nice pool. Next to the GF...it's our new favourite resort. I hope you enjoy it...we can't wait to go back. :)

We just returned on Sunday from an unplanned trip to POFQ. We went to a taping at MGM and needed a hotel last minute. We also wanted to go back to the WL, but it was booked. So, we tried the FQ for the first time. It was a lovely resort. The room was beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. The pool was cute. You will have a great time there!

Wish I could go back to Disney this weekend!

I made a point to walk around Port Orleans French Quarter a few months ago. It was beautiful. Very peaceful and the pool looked like fun. It didn't seem very spread out either. No long walks.

We own at VWL DVC, but I'm planning on staying some Friday and Saturdays at French Quarter, too!

I just returned from POFQ last week. Me, my wife and our two daughters age 6 and 9 were on the trip. All the resorts seem to have a different feel to them. I have been to most. I really like the Yacht Club though I have never stayed there. I have visited the place and the feel of the place seems to fit me. The same holds true for POR and POFQ. These are really the only places that I would be interested in staying. The Wilderness Lodge is very visually nice but I suppose it has something to do with it being like a Northwest Lodge theme that I don't grab hold of when I am in Florida on vacation. It just is not what I am looking for. Hoefully POFQ will give you another resort that you like. The service was great. The place is small and easy to get around. There really is no bad room or building. The landscaping is very pretty. The place is quiet. I was worried that my kids may not like it as much as my wife and do. I was wrong. They loved it. The pool is ten times better than the one at WL. I had the kids visit the WL on this trip. They thought it was nice but agreed that POFQ was better for them. They really liked the pool at POFQ much better. The slide was a HUGE hit. We all agreed that we would stay there on any future trips. The rooms are bright and large enough. The bathroom was much larger than the All Stars. Transportation was good. You may have had your heart set on the WL but I am sure that you will at least like POFQ a great deal. If you have any questions i woul dbe happy to answer them.

Would you believe I think it's done purposely? I am beginning to think that returning WDW guests are "steered" into recently rehab'd properties, while "newbies" are sometimes propelled into our favorite spots!! Seriously, just once try a different name, location and tell them you've never visited before, I think you'll be amazed at the computer's response to your "wishes"!!

I'm not a consiracy theorist, by any sense. My CM relative has hinted in the past in this regard. Have you ever felt like you were being interrogated when you're calling for a reservation?

There's mystery in the magic !!!!!
