I need to make a choice in the next day or two and I can't decide if I we should stay at the French Quarter? Or Riverside. Have stayed at Riverside when it was Dixie Landings and loved it, I still have the refillable mugs and called today and they said bring them they are still good. Besides that all things are even.
What are folks suggestions? It will be myself, my DW and my 6 year old DD. We won't need the trundle bed, which way should we go????

Thanks for your help goofydad

We Stayed at Riverside in July when we went for our anniversery and I LOVED it. We stayed in one of the Mansions and had a wonderful view of the river. Our children did not go with us on that trip but I know they would have liked it. Sorry I can not be much more help.:)

Hands down, my absolute favorite moderate is the French Quarter. It's small and compact, so you won't be hiking all over the place, but it's beautiful and colorful, as well.

We stayed in Riverside in May and LOVED it. FQ was just given a facelift and I have heard it looks great. You won't go wrong with either choice. I stayed in FQ about 10 yrs ago and I'm looking forward to another stay. I too have the old PO mug and never had a problem refilling. Have fun.:wave2:

We loved the smallness of POFQ---near everything...loved the pool area. good luck.

DH & I love POR, we've stayed there twice. I love the look it has - the river, the weeping willow trees, the fountains, the bridges across the water, it has that "Gone With the Wind" feeling and I love it!

We've walked through FQ, but never stayed there. To me, the theme seems much more quiet and "in the background" at POR.

DH & I have stayed at both. I really can't say that I prefer one over the other. I think DH prefers POFQ due to its small size. I think the POR mansion side is the most beautiful. I would turn either one down!::yes::

I preferred the FQ for the theme and size.

I have to say I prefer FQ due to its smaller size. ALso if you are using the resort buses you get picked up first at FQ before going to the 3 stops at Riverside. You are always sure to get a buss and usually a seat. Just my 2cents.

We have stayed at both and really enjoyed the FQ. However, we did not have kids with us (they are grown). The slide at the FQ pool is great for kids; the resort is small; and the buses pick up and drop off first at the FQ so you, and your child, will be sure to get a seat on your way to the parks. There is no sit down restaurant at FQ but Boatwright's at POR is only a 10 minute walk away. The snack bar is good. Have fun choosing!

POR is by far my favorite resort. I haven't stayed at others, but have toured them. I am scared to try anything else because all 5 of my Disney stays have been there and they have been perfect. Barring Ivan's rath, I will be there for stay #6 on Friday.

We stayed at FQ in May 2004, and loved it. I have never stayed at Riverside but it's quite large and you may not be near the pool. FQ was small and a short walk to everything including the boat dock. The kids had a blast at the pool, and me and dh had coffee and beignets at the food court (they really are awesome). With FQ being recently renovated, the beds were really comfortable, but Riverside is being renovated in stages too. You could ask for a newly renovated room. My only problem with FQ is that I can't get it out of my mind. Loved it.

POFQ is where we honeymooned and it was kind of romantic because of its small size. Then we stayed at POR while POFQ was in the process of refurbishment, and we fell in love with POR. I liked walking around the lake to get to the restaurant, food court and etc. I really think either resort will be perfect for your family!!

We have stayed at Riverside twice and are booked at FQ this Dec ember. Part of the Disney experience is trying different hotels. ::MickeyMo

I'm highly biased here and admit it - Dixie is by far our favorite resort! We have never had a bad stay there.

POR (still Dixie Landings to us) is by far our favorite. I love the feeling of meandering along the paths, and all of the greenery is beautiful. There are 5 quiet pools along with the main pool, so you are always near a pool. (No quiet pools at FQ, but smaller resort). It can be a 5-10 minute walk from the farthest rooms, but they are so quiet and serene that many people want that. If you don't, simply request a room nearer to the main building. The food court is plenty big for the people there, and there is a sit down restraunt that people love (we've never eaten there). We like Alligator Bayou with the smaller buildings and lush greenery, but the mansions are also beautiful and they are reminiscent of GWTW. However, FQ is also beautiful and I'm sure you would be happy there also.

From what I've read, isn't it true that POFQ has in-room coffee pots, but POR doesn't? That would give POFQ the edge for me.
