My best friend and I are currently trying to book a trip to disney during food & wine. We have always stayed at value resorts but really want to try a moderate. We got a quote from a disney travel agent for Port Orleans French Quarter Standard room as well a Coronado Springs preferred room. CS includes the Disney Dining plan free of charge because its during free dining. French quarter includes the dining plan is a full price package as the free dining is sold out.

The price to stay at French Quarter is only $200-$300 more than it is for CS. The travel agent said because its a preferred room its a higher priced package. So in this case is the free dining really worth it? I've read mixed reviews about CS and being convention central etc. French quarter seems to have good reviews. But then again you are rarely in your room so we are torn.

French Quarter is much, MUCH smaller than Coronado Springs. The price difference wouldn't be a make or break deal for me. I guess if I were you I would look at pictures of both resorts and pick the one that appeals to you most. I, personally, much prefer the theming of the Port Orleans resorts. Good luck! :)

I love both resorts and have stayed at both multiple times. I am a huge fan of Free Dining, so I would lean towards staying at CSR. Plus, you can use your snack credits at the Food and Wine booths!

I will reassure you that I have never felt out of place with CSR being a convention resort. I think it is a bonus as it also means fewer people using the park buses.

We are staying at French Quarter in Novemeber. Its not TOO small, is it? The kids will still be amazed to be in Disney, right? We liked the idea that it seemed more manageable.

So CS is 200 cheaper plus you get free food? Or is it just 200 cheaper at CS with dining at both. Cs looks great. I've stayed at FQ and the boat ride to DS is nice. The pool looks better at CS.

Ive stayed at both probably about twice each and i would say CSR. To me the beds were more comfortable, the rooms were nicer, and the food court is wayy better. Plus if you enjoy relaxing and getting lost into a resort that CSR is perfect for that. It is big but not to big with plenty of nooks and crannys for you to enjoy. At FQ it is significantly smaller so it seems as if you can never get away from the hustle and bustle.

I like both resorts. If you want easy access, I would recommend the French Quarter..

I'm wondering the same thing. I have never been to WDW (but have had about 20 trips to DL) so I feel like I am clueless as to the resorts and which one would better me.

Not trying to hijack your thred here but if anyone has any insight into what would be best for a mom and a teen boy on their first visit who are used to staying a short walk to the parks (in DL) and are feeling nervous at how much more difficult it will be to get around. We are not foodies but we will be doing the dining plan.

I like the theming for both and I just can't figure out, other Than theming how they are different and which is better for us.

The sizes are very different. POFQ is compact, and has only 1 bus stop. Coronado Springs is larger and has 4 bus stops. The pool at POFQ feels more for younger children and has a very short slide. The pool at CSR is larger, has a much longer slide, and a larger hot tub. POFQ doesn't have a table service restaurant, while CSR does, and has a nicer lounge area. The quick service at POFQ is shortly to be shut down for refurbishment too.

I'm not sure when you are going but POFQ food court is under renovation from now until some time in November.

French Quarter is better for families with small children. I have stayed at all four moderates, and even though I had an awesome experience at the French Quarter, I would not return there unless I had small children in tow. I would choose Coronado in a heart beat.

I've stayed at both.( POFQ at least 5 times, cs twice, and other resorts more than 20). That being said... POFQ is smaller in size, has direct boat to Disney springs ( or bus). Great, One bus stop, never run into convention mobs here thus never have large groups smoking and blocking walkways. At POFQ a standard room is fine, it's a smaller resort so you ll never be walking far anyway. I would not pay for preferred, but was upgraded twice there to waterview. The pool area does seem more geared towards younger kids, but it's quite nice with a walk up bar..great theming too. It's a short walk to sister resort POR where there is a great pool as well ( you can use it if you want too) again by boat ( see schedule) or bus or walking.
Cs is a known convention resort and the ONLY way we'd stay there again wa if it is in a business room. It had food/drink perks similar to club level ( which I love) and close to center area which has store/restaurant/food market.
Each visit was mobbed with convention people and clogged areas and Lots of smoking...just didn't work for us. The theming was quite nice though.
Wherever you decide...have a magical visit!!

POFQ is not too small. Everything is close by. It doesn't do conventions.

The French Quarter is one of our favorites. It seems rather removed from the hustle and bustle, and a nice place to relax and regroup. Even our 12 year old likes it.

I would think an older kid would like CSR more because the pool area is way better. We never ran in to large groups of conventioneers blocking the sidewalks when we stayed there and the buses were less crowded than at other mods.

I was always under the impression that POFQ did not have a preferred room category because it's such a small resort. Do they have a preferred category now? If they do, it's not necessary IMO and I would not pay extra for it either.

Aside from that, I think which resort is better for you depends on what's important to you. We find the main pool to be nicer at CSR, and there are also more dining options. We like the theme better as well. POFQ is small and easy to navigate, and the boat to Disney Springs is great too.
