We are trying to decide which resort to stay at on our next trip. We are thinking about either FQ or CSR. Which resort would you choose and why? Is there more pro's for one over the other? And what would be the con's?

We stayed at CBR last trip and they mentioned how large the resort is and I hear that CSR is just as big maybe larger. What is your take on that?

Thanks for your input.:)

We stayed at FQ and I can't say enough good things about it. Never waited long for a bus, its small so walking around doesn't take long, buses ran great the entire trip, CMs were super helpful, DD loved the dragon slide at the pool, we loved the boat ride to DTD (and you can also walk, boat or bus to POR), food was good, the mardi gras decor was pretty cool. IMO you can't go wrong there.

I personally dont like the look of POFQ at all. Im also not fond of their amenities. The dining options are minimal, TS is over at POR, the food court is better at POR, the bike rentals are at POR, POR is picked up first going to DTD via boat (often i'd see CM only allow a couple of ppl on from POFQ, the rest would have to wait for another boat).

The bonus about POFQ is that its a small resort, quick to get around, and there's only one bus stop.

Im staying at CSR for the first time in a couple of weeks, and i cant wait. Apparently its a huge resort. But that doesnt bother me. I saw pics of the pool, and it looks fantastic. My son is gonna have so much fun on that slide! Judging from the pics, CSR looks like it has one of the best pool amongst all the mods. I will soon find out if thats true. I loved the pool at both POR & POFQ thou. Both great.

CSR has a QS grill at the pool (burgers nachos etc). Very convenient if you ask me.

It all depends on what your family is looking for. If you dont want to do alot of walking at your resort, then POFQ is for you. How old are your kids? The POFQ pool seems to appeal to smaller kids (their slide is much shorter). Thats something to think about.

I chose POFQ because of the theme and I like the boat ride to DTD. The resort is very compact. I like beignet for breakfast. :goodvibes I find the resort very lovely. I like the simple fact that I can use the POR amenities.

OMG the beignets are WONDERFUL arent they!? :cloud9: SOOOO GOOD! I'd stay at POFQ for this reason alone! LOL! :lmao:

I've stayed at both, and both are great resorts. If your kids are older than 5 and the pool plays a big part in your vacation, go with CSR. The pool area is one of the nicest ones Disney has. The pool at POFQ is small (plus there are no quiet pools at all) and has a very small slide. It is really best for very small children, older kids would be bored in no time.

I have stayed at both. Honestly I liked CSR better. With that being said I liked the smallness of the POFQ. That is about all I liked better. The pool at CSR was amazing. If that is something that you are going to be interested in. We never had a problem with buses at either resort. Very short wait times. The rooms were larger at CSR. I would factor in how often do you plan on eating at the resort. If you are at POFQ it will be no big deal to walk over to eat. If you are at CSR and end up out in the Ranchos section it is about a 10 minute walk to eat. That being said you may not be way out there.
If I were to pick out of those 2 I would pick CSR. Good luck with you decision.

Thank you for this thread.
It will be our dilemma too.
We have 'adult' DD & DS.
So we thought the CSR pool is better.
But we have read the POFQ buses are better.
A toss up for us :confused3

Our next resort will be a moderate, since we have to pay for our DS & DD - at a moderate it would be $30 more a night, at a deluxe we would have to pay $50 a night. A savings of $20 a night, at a moderate, for 7 nights would = a TS meal ($140).

We could handle the one sink at CSR. The grounds look really nice at CSR for walks.

I heard the buses at CSR are pretty good too. Most folks are there for a convention and dont visit the parks much (apparently). Thats why there arent as many ppl boarding a CSR bus.

Why not have a family vote? Your kids might like the smallness of POFQ. Or they might prefer the very spacious CSR. My son wasnt impressed with POFQ thou....the theme/grounds, the pool, and the food court didnt impress him. He gave me that "are you kidding me?" look. :lmao: (then again, he is a preteen!). Everyone is different. Good luck deciding.

I have nothing but great things to say about the busing at both resorts. CSR does have many convention guests, and that makes the buses less crowded. POFQ only has one bus stop, so odds of getting a seat on the bus are good.

We stayed at FQ our last trip and just loved it. YOu can't beat the smallness - we were in building 4 and were just steps to the bus stop.

Our last stay was at CSR and I can't really say anything bad about it. It was a bit hit and miss with the staff (some were excellent, others.. meh) but the rooms were great and the grounds were beautiful.

That said, this time we are trying POR. We've scheduled more down time this trip so I like the idea of having more amenties available at both resorts. I am actually looking forward to trying something new, though I wouldn't have hesitated to stay at CSR again.

GL deciding! :goodvibes

I have stayed at both cbr and CSR and I believe that cbr might be a little more spread out. I haven't stayed at POFQ but I understandit to be compact.

We stayed at CSR in June. While I hear that the buses are less busy there because it is a convention resort, this was not our experience. The bus service was fine, no complaints but we were at the first stop. I really liked the food options at CSR. The grounds were lovely. About the pool. I seem to be in the minority here on the dis as the dig site pool gets lots of love on these boards. I didn't get it. It's a very large pool, not zero entry, and IMO on the deep side. The pyramid is quite pretty and I understand the slide is long and quick. It can't IMO compare to what cbr offered poolwise. I understand that POFQ is a better pool for younger children and/or children who are not good swimmers.

When we stayed at CSR last September we were at the first bus stop to be dropped off and the last to get on, so we didn't have to make all the other stops. We never had to stand even though we were last to get on. The longest we waited for a bus was 10-15 minutes and that was because we watched the bus we wanted pulling away as we were walking to the stop.

French Quarter would be my choice. My favorite resort at WDW.

Like that it's smaller, the boat ride to DTD, the way the rooms are decorated, beignets, and just the whole feel of it.

We are huge CSR fans, as we love the digsite pool and the nice rooms with down comforters.

Haven't stayed at either but visited POFQ (while staying at POR) on our last trip and based on that experience, I'd choose CSR. We traveled in September which is a slow time yet the POFQ food court was packed for breakfast. We had to eat in the lounge. We also found the bus stop to get crowded quick and since there isn't a formal line, it was a little annoying whenever a bus pulled up with a swarm of people. I also didn't like the looks of the pool.

The only con I see to CSR is the Pepper Market. We love the food court at POR and use it often, and I wouldn't be fond of having to be seated and tip a server at a QS, as you do in the Pepper Market. If you use the food court sparingly, then this is a non-issue. The rest of it looks great!

We've stayed at POFQ three times and are trying out CSR for the first time this October. Our older son asked me to to change our reservations to a resort we haven't stayed in before....so we are going to try CSR. From the photos, the resort looks beautiful and the kids are very excited about the pool.

We love the POFQ. It's small, quaint and quiet. My boys have outgrown the pool slide, but we will miss the boat to DTD. Also, we are ready for different food options at our resort.

This is becoming a tough decision, whe like the sound of a smaller resort in FQ and the DTD boats. But the slide at the pool looks to be small for the boys.

CSR looks great and our boys would love the pool and the dig site. The only thing here that we don't like is the sit down eating at their Pepper Market. Wish this was like the food court at POR or FQ, you know serve yourself style.

We have time still to decide on which to choose but we are keeping everything open. I would like to thank everyone for their responses to this thread it was very helpful.:)
