We did a "what are you having for dinner?" thread a while back, and a few of you mentioned French Dip in the crockpot.

One poster told me it was a rump roast, onion, two packages of au jus gravy mix, and water.

I'm assuming she meant like two cups of water (one for each package of gravy mix).

Correct? Anyone make it and want to tell me how you do it?

Rump roast is on sale at our supermarket starting tomorrow, and I'd like to try it.

This is how i do it and the kids love it.

1 pot roast
1 can french onion soup..campbells
1 can beef broth.
No water.

turn on low for 8-10 hours. slice meat, serve on warm rolls with small bowl of liquid.

I got this from the Allrecipes site. It is so good. I just love it.

INGREDIENTS:
4 pounds rump roast
1 (10.5 ounce) can beef broth
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
6 French rolls
2 tablespoons butter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Trim excess fat from the rump roast, and place in a slow cooker. Add the beef broth, onion soup and beer. Cook on Low setting for 7 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Split French rolls, and spread with butter. Bake 10 minutes, or until heated through.
Slice the meat on the diagonal, and place on the rolls. Serve the sauce for dipping.
