Freezing juice boxes

I havent done this but I think I read awhile back that you can freeze juice pouches and boxes. I use Minute Maid brand and these come in the pouches. Are these freezable and do they burst? How long does it take to thaw to be able to drink?

I freeze Capri Sun and they are in a pouch. It takes about 6 hours for them to freeze and less than 15 minutes to thaw out, more if you want them liquid again.

Do you just keep them frozen till you pack a lunch? My son will be eating lunch at 11 and I'd hate for it to still be frozen.

What I do is put the juice box/pouch in the freezer around 5:00 - 6:00pm. Before I go to bed (midnight) I take them out and put them in the fridge. By morning they have started to defrost. If the pouches are still quite frozen, I knead them a little to break up the solid. My kids say that they are either slushie (which they love) or have deforsted but are cold. I guess it depends on the temps. I have never had one break.

I do this all the time for Disney. I would think that if you pulled it out first thing in the morning it would be pretty thawed out by 11:00. (Disney, in September, I will pull one out of the cooler about 30 minutes before they want them and it's totally thawed) It's great for a lunchbox because it will work as an ice pack for the rest of the food.

It is hard to predict when the juice will be thawed out. Too many times you are impatient and throw away half the juice because so much of it has not melted yet.

It is not a good idea to knead or squeeze the juice box to break up the ice inside, you will make at least tiny leaks that make you wonder why your fingers and clothes are getting all sticky.

Last year, I froze juice boxes and pouches for my son's snack time at 2:30. It was thawed by then. I just used it as a cooler for the lunch box. This year I'm just keeping the juices in the fridge and putting a small blue ice thing in his cooler to keep everything cold.

I have frozen juice boxes (haven't tried pouches) for my son when he has a "brown bag lunch" field trip. I like that the box keeps the food cold and everything is disposable. BUT he has asked that I stop this as his drink doesn't thaw enough for him to drink it all . Lunch is packed about 7 am and I guess field trip lunch is noon.

For camp this summer I was sending DS with one frozen Capris Sun and one cold from the fridge. At first I was also putting in an icepack as the lunches are outside all day. Well, he kept bringing one juice box home because it was still frozen at lunch time. So, I stopped with the icepacks, and he said that the juice box thawed out by lunchtime most of the time. We had a few cool days, and when I picked him up at 3:30, there was still a cold juice box in his lunch bag. I like the idea of putting the frozen juice boxes in the fridge right before bedtime. However, on the 90+ days, he was able to drink both of them.

I keep them in the freezer to take almost everywhere. I don't however send them in a lunch DD goes to daycare. We do however take them to the pool in a cooler, I take them out about 15 minutes before we have our snack and they are like a slushie.

We have minute maid in the freezer right now! They do not explode. We took some to MK today.
