Freezing applesauce?

I love to make applesauce in the fall, and this year instead of making many small batches and eating it immediately, I'd like to make a large amount and preserve some. Does anyone have any experience freezing applesauce? Does it work well? If it isn't freezable, do you suggest canning? I've never done any canning (only freezer jam), and it seems a bit intimidating. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

Frozen applesauce is great. Just put it in the size of container you want and freeze it. Have taken it for lunch and it's still a little frozen and it's great!

You can absolutely freeze applesauce. I do about 20 quarts each year and store it in a seperate standing freezer. It lasts for a year and the flavor and texture are not altered.

if you already make applesauce then doing the canning process would be a walk in the park (the making of the applesauce is what is time consuming and messiest for us). and after doing it once there will be no turning back-you will realize it's ease and seek out other items to "put up".

the ball company has excellent books and web based advice on how to do canning-you could try doing just a couple of jars, see how it goes and then if you like it do your whole batch (big advantage to canning is you won't be eating up freezer space).

I have frozen it before and it turns out fine. The Ball freezer jars are my favorite product. Just fill to the line, let it cool completely, attach the lid and stack in the freezer. I love, love, love the freezer jars!
