That's what coffee is for, sweetie. ;)

At least her hair lays flattish..or looks like it does from the picture. DS had this little downy duck fluff that refused to lay flat no matter what we did to it. We nicknamed it Harry Potter head.:rotfl:

Her hair sticks straight up actually!! Her hair is actually really curly, but since it's so short, it just sticks up, we flatten it down, or we try to anyway.

There are so very many things that can go wrong during labor...I can't imagine delivering anywhere outside of a hospital. If I had used a birthing center, or gone through labor at home, my oldest would be dead.

I am right there with you and I feel strongly about it. I delivered both my girls at a level one hospital in Pittsburgh (Allegheny General Hospital). I was a perfect candidate for a home birth with my second. My first pregnancy and labor and delivery went without a hitch. I had a perfect pregnancy with my second. Labor took about six hours. Everything was fine. Then she was born and 2 minutes later stopped breathing. I had a NICU pediatrician in my room in two minutes. My family later told me how they watched him run down the hall to get to my room. He saved her life. All the soft lighting and music and cushy pillows and hot tubs in the world didn't mean a thing to me.

I didn't care one bit about my experience except that I wasn't enthused about it being painful. I wanted what I felt was safest for DS.

Exactly! I think people just get so caught up in the beauty of it all. After all, it is a miracle and a wonderful thing. And IF there are no complications, thats fantastic. But a person has to think like a parent now. What if your child was in an accident? Or hurt? Wouldn't you want him/her at the hospital ASAP? Your heart would be racing, you couldn't get your child to the hospital quick enough. So with all the things that have to happen to a baby at birth, you know it's breathing for the very first time, his or her first breath could be full of fetus poop. A hole in its heart has to close at just the right time, and it has to be in the right postition, and a million other things have to happen just right...well...wouldn't anyone want to have a doctor right there, just in case you need them? For your baby's sake?

I know, I know, just my opinion. But I feel really strong about it. I am so thankful I had that DR right there when Emily was born.

DznyLvr2005, awwwwe! She is cute! I remember giving Emily a bath and just loving her stick-straight-up-in-the-air hair. Then it grew and we had a little brunette Shirley Temple. What a cutie-pie!

After seeing the previews for it 10000 times I suggested we have a freebirth at home for our next (ahahahah) Joking of course we are DONE having children. Most of my pregnancy this time was done with a midwife. As long as some medical person was in the room to catch him I really didn't care who it was, but there was no way we were doing it ourself. Plus who wants to clean all that icky stuff up? blah.. No eating/saving the placenta for me although I did joke about it this time with the dr.

I love giving birth as well. Its an awesome feeling. I'm a little sad I dont get to do it again :(

Seriously, people really do this????:scared1:

Why??:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

google human placenta recipes. I first heard about it when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter. Its been a running joke in our house since then. ;) on another pregnancy site I use to visit (epregnancy.com which has gone down down down hill!) someone claimed it was the only meat they could eat with out killing anything for it :scared1:

ITA. I had a terrrible delivery myself. DD was stuck in my pelvic bone, I can't imagine having to get in an ambulance and go to a hospital during that ordeal.

:lmao: We had the same problem with DS's hair till his 'real' hair grew in around his first birthday.

Erotic Birthing?? I must tell DH he missed out on a great opportunity 3 weeks ago! :lmao:

Someone could always make a new post asking if anyone here has ever eaten their placenta after giving birth and WHY they did it...:scared: :scared1:

Honestly, I can't imagine anything being LESS erotic than giving birth.

Unless Johnny Depp was the OB.:lmao:
"That's it love..just push that baby right out of there and we'll get you some rum."pirate: :rotfl2:

I think it is crazy to not have any medical experts involved in the birth of your child!
As the mother of two premie girls - the first would have died if we were not at the hospital!
Not a good idea at all - there is no way to know what can happen and WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU RISK YOUR CHILD"S LIFE?!:headache:

Oh, no, please don't! Talk about too much information! I don't want that stuck in my head when I read someone's posts. :scared1:

OT, but adorable!!! My DGD had tons of dark hair like that when she was born and curly as could be.. :lovestruc

You're one lucky mom.. Tell dad to get the shot gun ready for when the boys come a callin'..:rotfl:

I have no problem with someone wanting to do a freebirth. Why should I? Today we treat childbirth as a medical condition and have to be hooked up to machines and IV's, when the whole process is completely natural. That is what I think people forget these days.

If someone wants to have a freebirth at home, that is fine with me. If a medical problem arises, that is what the hospitals are for. Now, I think you should be informed of what needs to be done and if this happens - do this - or that happens - do that. I dont think it is safe to go into blindly, that is for sure. But with the proper information and training, I dont see why anyone would be upset over their choice.

I had my last two at home with midwives. There was a form with 450 risk factors listed. If you had more than 3 answered in the affirmative...no homebirth. We also had a back up plan for a hospital birth if needed. Most complications are anticipated before labor. Almost all other complications are known in early labor. I was fortunate. All my labors where short and delivery easy. I loved my homebirths but, it's not for everyone. My midwives wouldn't consider a homebirth unless everything was perfectly normal and the mom was 100% comfortable with it. Any signs of distress for mom or baby it was off to the hospital.

Would you have done it with out midwifes present? I would have liked to have a homebirth this time around WITH a midwife, but that was nixed quickly by DH.

Now what is the point in that? Honestly...

A midwife I know in Florida who worked at a birthing center said that some dehydrate the Placenta and grind it up to powder, then put it in empty pill capsules to give to the Mother. Supposedly, some think by doing that the dehydrated placenta helps with Postpartum Depression. :scared1:  Not something I'm willing to try!!!

I would not have a homebirth without trained professionals. DH didn't like the idea at first. He went along with the first visits.....to make me happy. He became quite impressed as he heard their credentials, etc. Most people have misconceptions about midwives and homebirths. There are so many reasons they will nix the homebirth....before labor or once it has begun. The main reason I liked it so much.....you saw the same person/persons each visit....they insisted you educate yourself....visits were more frequent. Doctors fall back on the hospital if something goes wrong so, they don't have to be as picky as a midwife. A midwife tries to identify a potential problem before it becomes one.
