If my DH hadn't been wearing his helmet he would have had a *very* serious brian injury. Even with his helmet he was knocked out for 15-20 minutes. I don't understand people (especially those with kids) who would risk this by not wearing a helmet.

A teacher at my kids' school (elementary) rides around town without a helmet (we live in a small town so everyone knows everyone). The kids look up to this guy as he is considered one of the cool teachers -

What kind of role model is he...

Take pictures of his helmet and his black eye. I'd sue the pants off the guy driving. He could have killed him! I can't believe they gave him such a little slap on the wrist with a $35.00 ticket! What a joke!

I was a litigation secretary for years. I took pictures of him when he got home and everyday since. The driver's insurance co. called the next day wanting my DH to make a taped statement over the phone and wanted to send someone right over "to help get us $$" as soon as possible.

No thanks, don't call us, we will call you. DH also has 4 chipped/cracked molars on the left side. That alone will be more $ than the Ins. Co. offered.

Hey dlpcarden, can I ask why you are posting to mark your starting point? I am asking for 2 reasons, 1. it takes up posts which would be really long if everyone started doing this and 2. maybe I am missing something...not sure how it "marks" your place...
What I do is read the posts on the thread and then next time, if you click the little blue check mark to the left of the thred name, (I think it says take me to the 1st unread post), it will take you to where you left off on the previous view of the thread.

Maybe some long-term DISers could chime in if I am inccorrect here but I know we don't want threads to grow just by people marking their spot or subscribing, it makes it longer for everyone else and especially if you are subscribed and get email updates...

Just curious????

It makes it easier for me to find out where I stopped. If there is an easier - better way to do this I am open to suggestions....

I was thinking the same until I thunk some more, a cyclist is just like a vehicle on the road. With same ramifications as far as tickets go. The other party's insurance should pay for any injuries the cyclist incurred under the liability portion of the policy, as well as the damage to the bike. Nothing extra. Of course, that being said, everyone is entitled to "sue". It's the American right of every individual. The insurance company should pay what's owed though, so turn in those dental bills!!!!! and any other med bills.

It's an unfortunate situation and I'm glad everyone is ok
