Any suggestions for Free Wifi locations in Cozumel, Falmouth Jamaica, and Georgetown Grand Cayman? Is that something they have on the islands?

I want to make a call using Facetime or Hangouts, and not pay obscene rates for a regular telephone call.

Thanks...

We found a coffee shop on most islands after buying a cup of coffee had free wifi. :) sorry don't remember the names. :thumbsup2

some good read on free wifi

We asked the crew members where to go for wifi in port. They will know which places have wifi and if there is a cost.

Starbucks across the road from the terminal in Cozumel has wifi with a purchase. So get a coffee and there you go!

Also if you have t-mobile, you get free data with a simple choice plan in a lot of those places, and free wi-fi calling. Just another option depending on your cell carrier.

You can do a pre-cruise internet search for "free Wi-Fi in XXXXXX". And, as noted, as the CMs once onboard. Many of them know where the good spots are.

On our last cruise we found that the Diamonds International stores in Cozumel and Falmouth both had free wifi. We just asked people who were connected which one to use (there were several options) and the password.

It was slow and difficult to connect (due to so many people trying to do so) but it was good enough to check some emails. :) I think I did see some people face timing.

I should also clarify though, that this was a Royal Caribbean cruise. The Diamonds International store in Falmouth was in the cruise terminal gated area - I don't know if DCL uses the same terminal or not? The Cozumel Diamonds International was on their street of shops, outside the terminal gates. So anyone can go there.

Good luck!

Unfortunately our ship never went to Falmouth while I was working on it, but here are some locations for the other ports:

Cozumel - Starbucks directly across the street from the dock (this has the fastest and is really reliable). There is also Margaritaville (to the right of the dock when coming out of the dock) and a "crew bar" called No Name Bar. It's where we all used to hang out and relax, internet isn't all THAT great, but it's a nice little hide away. :)

Grand Cayman - Margaritaville to the right once you get off the boat. McDonalds to the left when you get off the boat.

Any more questions, just ask. :)

Uh... We don't have McDonald's in the Cayman Islands.

For WiFi in Grand Cayman you can try:
the public library on Edward Street,
Burger King with locations on Albert Panton Street and North Church Street
Cafe del Sol coffee shop on the corner of Fort Street and Albert Panton Street

During the Sochi Olympics I remember seeing a report on how bad the hacking was on free wifi. Be careful.
