free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

Those of you that have requested tickets, did you request from a Senator or a Representative?

I contacted my Representative's office. I made sure to contact them as early as possible, many months in advance. They knew exactly what to do and I obtained tickets for a February visit.

Anyone here in FL try this? If so what was the outcome? I could understand them not doing it for Floridians since we are "local" I guess. Just wondering is anyone here has tried :) Thanks!

You shouldn't run into any challenges bc you are from Florida. All reps/senators have a constituent service liaison on staff.

Did you email or actually write? Can you give me that info? Thanks.

In my case I looked up my Congressional representative's web site and used the general contact options listed -- it may be a feedback form or an email address. Once I made contact, the rest was via email.

Thank you. I emailed my representative after a google search. Well see what happens.

Knowing I was probably out if luck due to short notice, I emailed our congressman (tx) last week. I heard back in one day that I needed to ask at least 6 months ahead of time, but they would be happy to help next time.

This is something I need to try. I have contacted our congressmens office to get tickets to tour the White House.

Is this only for Kennedy Space Center? What about Houston Space Center? Anyone get free tix for that?

I tried to get passes for the end of October. They're all gone. They're only talking to people looking to go December and later. Good luck to all those trying.

Whose office did you contact? We are from Monroe County and are hoping to go on Friday October 18, 2013.

We are in Southwest Florida and have 3 tickets for Friday, October 11. I emailed our congressperson back in January. I just looked up our congressperson on the House of Representatives website; you search by your home address.

I googled my representative by my home address. Then emailed them. This is what came back from NASA;

Just got this email today:

I wanted to follow up briefly to let you know that your request for Kennedy Space Center tickets was approved for 11/1/13! I will have more information for you, as well as your confirmation number, about a month before your trip. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

I made my original request on May 28th . . so it took about three weeks. I went to my Representative Web site (Wisconsin) and did "contact me". I received a staffer response that they were working on it within 3 days and then just confirmed for the free tickets.

So thankful to this board for letting me know about these opportunities!!

O.k. Thanks for your help.

We are in Delaware and I tried my Senator first and he said they only do tours in DC. Then I contacted my Congresman and here is the reply I received today.

Hi Margaret,

I apologize for the delayed response. Kennedy Space Center Tours are not routinely set-up by our office, so it took a few days for me to make sure I had exhausted my options and gathered the best information for you. I contacted the office of the Congressman who represents the Kennedy Space Center’s district, and I spoke with that Congressman’s point-person for the Space Center. Unfortunately, the staffer from that office informed me that members of Congress are not able to request personal or behind-the-scenes tours for constituents, nor can we arrange for discounted or free tickets to the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center. Of course, I wish I was able to make this happen for you and your family, but the Space Center’s tours are now managed by a private company, and tours for members of Congress and their staff are strictly for informational purposes, and are not transferrable to constituents. I do know that the Kennedy Space Center sometimes runs special deals and promotions, so maybe you can find luck that way. It appears that the Kennedy Space Center has benefits and discounts for retired military veterans. You can find information on this
s program here: http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/military.aspx .

I am wondering has anyone received free tickets tickets lately??
Anyone from Delaware ever get any free tickets?

Thanks for all your replies, it was worth a try.

I just wanted to follow up here and tell you that I emailed my congressman last week about Space Center Houston and here is how they responded:

Thank you for contacting Congressman Amodeis office for assistance with your visit to Space Center Houston. I received word from the NASA liaison that the center can provide up to four complimentary tickets for your family. While this policy cannot cover the whole group as you described it, I hope this option may help. When you arrive at the facility, the four tickets will be available at the will call area.

The information required to receive the four complimentary tickets is as follows:

-Date of visit;

-Total number of visitors (seven, correct?);

-How many of the group are under thirteen years of age vs. how many are adults.

Once I have this information, I would be happy to send it on to the NASA liaison to confirm the complimentary tickets.

... I was literally shocked. I did not even expect a response. And they responded in less than a week. :thumbsup2
