"Free" Parking - Anyone Ever Do This?

Disneyadore, where then do you propose people park when the go to the many resorts for dinner or to explore the resort? Perhaps where the parking attendants tell them to park?

This thread is just full of rude comments,

As a newbie, I have to agree. I asked a similar question about parking and got very few responses and now I know why. The thought of going to a resort and parking for free(that I was not staying at) did not occur to me UNTIL AN EMPLOYEE AT THE GRAND FLORIDIAIN TOLD US TO PARK THERE AND RIDE THE MONORAIL TO THE PARKS. I asked here because it "didn't seem right", but hey "they told me to". We chose to go through the main gate and pay the $14, but I can understand people who are probably pinching/saving every single penny to go to Disney being "surprised" by the fee. If staying for a week, it can add up to $100 dollars. Not much to some, A LOT for others. :confused3 I also have to agree, that maybe Disney doesn't care so much about it. If they did, they wouldn't recommend it and they would require parking passes or something.

They get a ticket for three hours as we all know or better the most don't want to know.
No matter how people try to convince themselves a parrot that can bark is a dog and they are "guests" they are only convincing themselves they do nothing wrong.:lmao:

It would be the same as people out of town just drove up any house near the town center and just parked in your drive way.
They don't want to pay parking fees and but they are guests of the city and are spending money in the same city so they have the same right as you to park there.

Who said anything about eating at a resort?
You eat there and leave after a few hours. Parking at a resort the whole day just to visit a park is ,well least say at least "shady" and mostly those that ask these kind of questions end up very angry because they don't get the answers they like.

Personel I would like to get the mods make a stickey for this like they did whit pool hopping and the mugs. Saves a lot of cyberspace. :thumbsup2

I am a self-professed cheap-skate and I would never consider doing this.

Not condoning any of this but I have made at least 10 trips to Disney and not one single time have I been given a 3 hour parking pass...and we always tour the resorts, or go to eat at one....I have also never parked at a resort and gone to a park...

I was just stating that Disney kinda treats the parking issue like the late FP issue...They may state what they want you to do but they very seldom enforce the issue...

I can see how a newbie to Disney would get confused by the parking issue....just how some think you have to pay extra for the FP for example...

How about this...I never considered this as we never went to a park BUT its a good example...

We always tour the resorts...what we do is drive to the Wilderness lodge, tour, get on ferry ride to CR and then tour all the monorail resorts, then take boat back to WL for an early dinner at Whispering Canyon...this whole thing takes a good 4 to 6 hours...we have never been towed and never given a parking pass...the security guy just asked why we were there...and said have fun...no issues....

Also how about spending several hours at the Boardwalk resort, shopping, eating, ridind surreys, watching etertainment...not a big difference...

again not condoning trying to cheat the system as I think people should use common sense about it...but there is a lot of grey area that Disney doesnt really do much about...again like FP

Quick question about all this......

Doesn't Disney say included in your resort stay is unlimited use of Disney transportation ?
To me that means Disney transportation from resorts and parks is for "Disney Resort Guest" not off-site guest.

Yes they say its free for hotel resort guests but it doesn't exclude those not staying on property.

In other words they don't say "only" free for those staying onsite.

Wow. I registered on here just a few days ago, and I'm regretting doing so.

This board has so many pompous, holier-than-thou posters.

It's good to know that you all are perfect!!

I don't get the anger over issues like this! What do you care where someone else parks! I was an assistant teacher for many years and I can tell you a lot of people on here act like my six year old students! They were constantly complaining about what others were doing even if it had no affect on them whatsoever! I would ask " Does this have anything to do with you" and when they said no I would say " You worry about you then" !!!!

I love free parking threads... :rotfl2:
And photopass share threads...
And using other Resort Pools threads...
And reusing mug threads...

Brings out the best in people.

:rotfl2:

On a side note, I have a question... can I avoid buy a park hopper, by just adding a few days to my MWY ticket? I've heard they won't allow it, but if you complain to a CM they may just let you in... :lmao: :scared1: :lmao:

It does effect me and is costing us money.
And yes we stay at the GF and got really annoyed driving around and looking for a free spot.
After our first stay we decided to use valet parking. So it's costing us now an extra 120 $$ but who cares those that have not payed to park there have a free spot on the cost of others.

The article was about parking at the boardwalk overflow lot or at downtown disney. anybody can park there not just resort guests

Going in between parks and around the Disney compound you can use this exclusive Disney transportation of which you speak. Anyone can use it not just the privileged "Disney Resort Guests".:worship:

BWV DVC owner here...I stay primarily at BW, so am pretty conversant about the parking there. Anyone is entitled to park in that overflow lot, behind the Hess Station. But, it is a hike over to BW from there, and when you add in the time it would take to get to either Epcot or DHS from that lot, well..it's just too big an inconvenience for me. Not worth the money saved.
Same thing with parking at DTD...sure you can do it. But, the buses don't start running to the resorts early enough to get to a park for rope drop...maybe not even until close to 11:00!!! And it takes at least an hour, closer to 90 mins to go from DTD parking to a park. But, if that's what you choose to do, go for it.

As for parking at resorts and then heading to a park....can you do it? Sure you can. Are you supposed to? Jury is still out on that one. At some periods, throughout the year, there will be a sign up, at the resort parking lot area, that says parking is not provided for park access. This pretty much means you can't park there and then head off to a park unless you are paying to sleep at that resort...for that time frame.
Other times, no one will stop you from parking at a resort and then heading to a park. But, Disney only sometimes hands out 3 hr prking passes and they only sporadically tow cars. Yes, both things can happen, but they aren't the norm.

This 'discussion' has been done to death. It just isn't that big a deal. I only wish that when articles like this come out, they also made it clear that using 'alternative' methods of getting to parks when getting 'free' parking, is not very fast or efficient!!

Disney just should add the $14 to the ticket prices and give resort guests a $14 discount per night. As an added benefit, they can get rid of the toll booths at the entrances to the parking areas and save on staffing costs as well...

:rolleyes1

14 per ticket maybe a little steep. Maybe 7 or 5 on adult tickets - nothing on the kiddos.
