Free Kate

I am sure the court order was explained to her, and what could happen if she broke the court order. Well she chose to do it any way and now reaping what she sowed. She probably thought she would not get caught.

I hope they charge the mother too.

I agree. I think the mom's righteous attitude and interference served to fuel Kate's obsession with the 14 yr. old.

Instead of instructing the victim to delete all evidence of communication on her end, the mom should have concentrated her energy in guiding Kate to have zero contact with the 14 yr. old girl. :headache: Be a parent, not a friend. :sad2:

Kate would have had to have signed the court order with the conditions when she was released on bond. She would have been given a copy.
She knowingly violated the order numerous times while her family did their media tour trying to make this case into something it is not.

Perhaps if Kate's Mother spent the time monitoring her daughter a bit better and supporting the court order instead of obstructing justice there wouldn't be new charges. Having said that, the onus is on Kate to abide by the order of the court.

Kate's parents need to shut their mouths and stop complaining about this case.

You can really see where a teenaged girl got her sense of entitlement from.

In her texts is clear that she knows. She asks the girl to keep quiet about the texts so she wont go to jail.

After reading some of those texts, is more clear to me than ever that Kate is a sexual predator, and that she didn't love this girl. She was obviously the dominant figure here, and a manipulator.

Her and her mother pulling the "I'm only being targeted because I'm gay" card makes everything more disgusting.

Kate is the one who "ruined her life". She did a great job of it, with the help of her parents

Gay Florida teen Kaitlyn Hunt pleads no contest as part of deal

Vero Beach, Florida (CNN) -- Kaitlyn Hunt, the 19-year-old who has been jailed in Florida over a sexual relationship she had with a 14-year-old girl, pleaded no contest Thursday to five charges as part of a deal brokered by prosecutors and her attorneys.

Hunt pleaded no contest to two counts of misdemeanor battery, misdemeanor contributing to the dependency of a child and two counts of felony interference with child custody.

The felony charges originate from the times she picked up the 14-year-old against the girl's parents' wishes.

Hunt has been in jail since August 20 for violating a court order not to contact the alleged victim.

Teen in same-sex case offered new deal

Under the terms of the agreement, Hunt will be sentenced to four months in jail, to be followed by two years of house arrest with electronic monitoring, and nine months of monitored probation after that, according to prosecutor Brian Workman.

If she has no violations, she will not be a convicted felon under Florida law, and she will have the possibility of sealing her file and having the case expunged after 10 years, he said.

The case garnered attention as Hunt's lawyers claimed that authorities wouldn't have gone after her if the situation had involved a male and a female instead of two teenage girls.

But after Thursday's court hearing, Workman said the case would have been no different if Kaitlyn was a boy.

Hunt's parents have been critical of the victim's family for going to police over the relationship, repeating that criticism Thursday.

"If we start arresting kids for having sex or sexting, you might as well turn the high schools into prisons," they said.

The victim's family released a statement saying it was never their intent to harm Hunt, and the case was never about gender or sexual orientation.

"It was about age-appropriate relationships and following the rules and laws of our society," the statement said.

I have a feeling it will be hard for Kaitlyn Hunt to be on house arrest for two years.

Wow. She got a gift from the prosecutor. I hope she gets enough help to take advantage of it and get on with her life.
