On our 7-day cruise this past January, each stateroom got 5 minutes of free internet time during which you could check to see if you were the lucky winner of a free week's worth of internet cafe time. Since we had two cabins, our family had 10 minutes of internet time to send emails. I managed to crank out 3 emails during each of our 5 minute visits.
I should also mention that I had the opportunity to visit the DIS boards 3 weeks before the internet cafe opened up on the Magic. I had asked our cruise director a question that he couldn't answer. I knew that the answer was on the internet, so he invited me into his office where I was allowed to check the website for the answer to my question. I was being a good boy and I didn't want to abuse my special privilege. So I blew the chance to be the first DISer to post from the Disney Magic. But at least I found out which Survivor got voted out that week.
Our 5 free access minutes weren't so free. My DH signed on to check his AOL mail and got kicked off at least 3 times. By the time he accessed it and wrote 1 e-mail, 13 mins had passed and we had a bill for $6.75. He was going to complain about the connection problem but didn't. So, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.
