free gift in rooms

I am new to DVC! I was wondering if there are any gfts in the room when you check in. Thanks!

You get a member packet when you check in that lists the member perks and other things.

But no, nothing in the room.


Until you check out...then you get that nice bill with no room charge on it!!!

Now that your an owner, remember: There's no such thing as a free gift... if they gave us all a free doo-dad, we'd just be charged for it in our dues!

I suppose that you don't want to hear about the photo albums that we'd be surprised with back in the stone age when DVC began.

Attend a member update ... you get free information, "free" breakfast (coffee, juice, muffins and bagels), and sometimes a few extras. It's well worth the effort. I got a lanyard, pin, and mousepad (member clubhouse), and DVC ice scraper (works in Michigan just fine) two weeks ago .... I always lose out on the drawing for gifts (DVC coffee cups, watches, etc.), but I'll keep trying every year! Free? Well, maybe not ... but just think of those paying for the updates and never go! LOL
Got photo albums when we attended VB updates back in the day!

What's a Member Update???

I went on a 7 day cruise recently, and I couldn't believe all the free things that I got! My daughter and I each got a pin and lanyard, and a large beach towel. At a member get-together, everyone got a free baseball cap and mousepad. They gave away enough canvas tote bags and t-shirts that almost everyone got something. I ended up with a "gold" bracelet, that my daughter ended up giving to her doll as a necklace.

Yes, we payed dearly for our verandah room, but the little treats were a lot of fun!

One thing for sure that you will get for free is at the end of the trip your bill for all the charges you made will be left on the door or under it.
