While on Mary's site, I came across 2 links for free
emerald club membership thru Turner travel and Spartan Travel.
Did I read this correctly?
Has anyone used these sites for free membership?
Is it truly free or do you have to book thru them?
I would like to join for my july trip to WDW and could apply the $50 membership fee towards something else instead.
TIA:confused:

I got it free last year through the DC membership. They aren't renewing old ones anymore, or taking new ones but I am not sure that they are giving out free Emerald Club memberships either.

Dollar has "fastpass", working like Emerald and it is free for everyone. You may want to consider it too.

these travel agencies are still listed....asking again (sorry) for feedback from someone who has joined up through them!

Thanks!

They are totally free and you do not have to book through them.
I felt Mary was quite thorough in her explaination of this offer.
Did you try the links. The applications are there without any mention of a fee.

"A couple of online travel agencies, Turner Travel and Spartan Travel, are offering a FREE Emerald Club membership. You apply online and it only takes a couple of minutes. There are no limitations noted on either agency's web site, so it appears anyone can use these offers. I have had numerous reports from readers who signed up successfully through these links."

What part of this did you not understand?

Also, the following:

"MouseSavers.com reader Susan B reports that when making a reservation at 1-800-CAR-RENT (227-7368), she asked if they ever offer promotions for the Emerald Club membership and mentioned that her family was going to Disney World. She was told that since National is one of the official car rental companies of Disney, they offer a free membership to anyone going to Disney World -- you just have to ask for it! This method is slower than using the travel agency offers above, but if you would prefer to deal directly with National, call and ask the National rep to fax you the application. You can fax it back to them."

This could be an option, then you will know for sure.

Fastpass is similar, but, you still have to wait in line to check in, with EC, you just go get your car. Most of these programs with the rental car agencies are free for the basic membership, National is the only one that charges a fee and if you do your homework you can usually find a way around that.

I followed the mousesaver info and signed up last year thru Spartan. No problems, used it in Feb of 2003, and will use again in August.

You have to call National and ask for it. It cannot be down on line or over the phone. They will fax an application that states "Fee Waived" on it. I did mention to the agent that I was going to WDW and was told that fee would be waived and she had no problem with it.

Man that counter is really getting close now! :bounce:

I believe I stated that you needed to call for the fee waived application if you are using the "im going to Disney" "promo".

The other two can be done online.
