I've got an app for mobile banking (Bank of America), BBC News, Calculator, Daily Bible (a new verse each day), Google Sky Map, My Verizon, NASA News Reader, NASA Images, NFL Latest News (rather thin on the news, IMO), NBA News, PDF Viewer, Power Manager, Telegraph (UK Paper), The Weather Channel.
DH and I both just got the Droid a few days ago. We already used the Sky Map app...the kids thought it was totally cool. They wanted Dad to pull out his big telescope so we could get a better look...
Thanks everyone! For paid...I downloaded weatherbug elite (really cool)! There is also a app called beautiful widgets that looks really neat. The free ones - well I have too many to list . Really loving my Droid!
I'm considering upgrading from a Blackberry to the Droid. I detest my Blackberry and was originally going to downgrade to a Rogue, just for the email and save myself the $20/month, but now that I've seen the Droid...it may just change how I look at it...
Is the internet fast on it? The BB is impossible and it is basically an email device/phone.
-Cardio Trainer: tracks your running/walking/biking etc and keeps a log of weekly/total miles. Also fun to have a map of each route (assuming you did an outdoor walk/run/etc). Basic app is free; does have 2 addtional features you'd need to pay for to use, but not necessary to run the basic.
-Sportstap or Scoreboard: track your favorite sports team(s), and get updates on games in progress (I put both because the Sportstap widget causes issues on my phone (samsung moment) and interferes with the voicemail (so I've removed it)). Scoreboard hasn't caused any issues.
-Pandora: internet radio. Lets you select favorite group(s)/song(s)/etc, then builds a radio station around that, playing tunes from the favorite, as well as other bands in the same genre (nice combo with the Cardio Trainer so you have some good tunes while your working out).
-Aloqa: provides locations/info/etc for restaurants/clubs/coffee shops/entertainment/shopping/etc based on your current location. Nice if you're travelling, or even to find places you might not know about in your own area.
I upgraded from a Dare and I never used the net cause it was slow. The Droid, I use the net. It's quick, not super fast but fast enough that it doesn;t frustrate me and I just close it down.
I have a cool Couch to 5K program that is free (although I bought the version that isn't free as well) that beeps when you should walk and beeps when you should run so that you can listen to your music on the phone and have a brainless way to follow the program. If you are so inclined to something like that, I found it in the Market store on the phone. The free version worked well for me, I just upgraded to the non-free version since I love the application so much.
If you want something silly, I love the lightsaber for android too! I have a bunch of silly free apps for my kids too. Including my 17 month old!
I do have a ? though, anyone with the Moto Droid have people tell them they can't understand them very well? I have had 3 people tell me that compared to my Rogue they are having a harder time understanding me. I do have the cover on mine and wondering if that could be affecting it?
Edited to add: I just took the cover off and DF said he can hear me 100% better, hmmmm. Just wondering if the cover is really needed? I do have the scratch free film on the screen.
