Free Dining

Got a pretty decent room only discount at the Grand Floridian. Didn't get free dining, but my package with dining myself at the GF is now less than what I was paying for a garden wing room at the Contemporary. Wasn't planning on staying at the Grand Floridian, but figured the deal made it worth it.

Thanks to whomever mentioned to change the reservation via the incognito window. It was the only thing that got rid of the circle of death.

I currently have a reservation for Poly Standard, Park Hopper, Regular Dining Plan, 11/26 ~ 12/2. I went back online and investigated the Boardwalk Offer.....

Club Level for $500 cheaper than my current reservation...

I still don't feel inclined to change Poly Standard to Boardwalk Club Level. I have been dreaming about Poly since trip in 2014 and eating at Ohana. Is Club Level at Boardwalk worth it?

I don't see the dates staring August 13 that were supposed to be available to Disney Visa holders!? Hopefully they are still coming. I seem to remember last year Visa card holder discounts came after general discounts.

We were able to go from a mod to deluxe for like $50 cheaper. Only downside my reservations won't load so I just booked an entire new reservation.. going to see if they can just cancel the other and apply all that money to the new one. Saving money is the best!

How?

We were booked at POFQ with the dining plan and since they just released free dining and POFQ is not included WL ended up costing us $50 less.

Awesome for you, @dolewhipsareforlovers !

Had I booked our September 2017 stay at POR this year after new dining and ticket prices came out, instead of last year in June, I would have been able to upgrade to AKL today for just a little more than $100 with the FD promo.

Note that Moderates only get the quick service plan now. Only Deluxe Resorts and Villas get the regular Plan that includes table service meals.

That fact has made me Grumpier than you. The Moderates worked great for us in 2 previous years with free deluxe. We're probably going to vacation elsewhere this December.

So...our December travel dates fall smack dab in the middle of free dining...(staying at Pop). and our TA says she has been trying all day & getting no availability at all... hoping this is just a glitch... Has free dining ever sold out at a particular resort THIS fast?

It was sold out at some before it even started. There was nothing at WL at all.

Yeah, DIS Unplugged is right on dot. Free Dining is meant to fill resorts that are not as popular + all of the hype surrounding Free Dining is good for business. I couldn't book a regular Poly standard stay 11/26 through 12/2 this morning let alone Free Dining.

The only intriguing one to me was Club Level at Boardwalk was $500 cheaper than my current reservation. That is a decent discount right there for club level and free dining.

I'm sorry...I'm confused about this....How can something sell out before the promotion ever started? my understanding was that even if you had a PRIOR reservation, you didn't get free dining unless you called to have it added.

My TA was online and on the phone at 4:30 this morning, and there was absolutely nothing available at WL. She couldn't upgrade me from POR to anything at WL, and she couldn't add dining to my sister's existing WL reservation, even if she changed room category.

More accurately would be that although those hotels were eligible at some point they had little to no availability for your dates. They could have had 1 room available on the discount that was booked when it launched and was booked before 6 am when the phone lines opened.

Yes I am wondering this too.. I have never had this much trouble trying to get Free Dining in the past. I just got off the phone and there isn't really anything available during my dates unless I want to stay at Yacht club or AKL and those are out of our price range... like way out.

I know exactly how you feel.We tried to book the Poly for a standard room for quite a few weeks before free dining at rack rate and could not get our dates / nothing available for 5 or 6 nights in a row for Thanksgiving week(we tried all different check-in and check out date combinations) and couldn't get a reservation even at full price even. (We have to go over school breaks to minimize the days ds has to miss from school).

We were able to find a great deal through a travel agent that was able to get us our dates (11/21-11/27). It's not free dining, it's the room and park hoppers but it's a great price & saving $$$ over what we would have paid booking through disney direct-if they had our dates available.
