Free Dining??

Would someone help me - I feel like the kid in class asking the dumb question! I'm familiar with the DDP - never had it, but aware of it. However I see a lot on here regarding "free dining". What am I missing? I'm not aware of this, and by golly - if there's an opportunity for free dining - I'll take some of that action!

years Disney has offered the dining plan at no charge for people willing to pay rack room rate at certain periods of time. The dates have been generally late August through late September with same variation. The offer has come out in late Spring and there are a certain number of rooms at each resort set aside for the program.

Anecdotally it fills up the TS locations a lot mre than the parks.

Basically, it is the Basic disney dining plan for free when you buy a full priced ,non discounted MYW disney pkg with resort stay.The pkg must include at least one day park tickets per person of your travel party.It traditionally is offered for bookings in April, and includes travel dates mid-late August thru Mid-late Sept.This year it nedded to be booked by June 22, and runs from 8/24/08-9/20/08. Additionally, disney decided to offer selct people free dining pincodes for travel dates in OC t,Nov,and Dec this year.It is the same deal as before, only not everyone is eligible.You need to have a pincode in your name(they are nontransferable).Hope this helps.

I believe they have offered the free dining plan in the Aug - Sept time frame since 2005. We have used it 2006, 2007 & 2008. Basically they are trying to fill up rooms during the slower time of year. We go at the end of August. It is very hot & humid and you take the chance of having bad weather from hurricanes. We have been lucky and have always had pretty good weather. You do have to pay rack rate for the room, but we stay at values so that is $82 per night and we always buy park tickets for each night we are there anyway. It works great for us!!! As the PP stated they are offering it other times with a pin code this year also.
