I will be doing some math later to compare a 35% off to a Free Dining plus upgrade to TS from QSDP ( I dont have these discounts but assume they willl come)

2 Questions:

1) Do you need to buy free dining for all nighst of stay? Suppose i amstaying 5 nights but only want three days dining because i am going to Universal

2) What is the upgrade cost from QSDP to TS?

Thanks.

Just curious, what makes you think you will get the discount. I have tried everything and can't get it. Do you have a secret?

Keep in mind with a free dining discount you must stay a min. number of nights (some threads are saying 5 nights) and buy at least 2 days worth of tickets.

If you are buying over the min. number of nights, then you will have to have two reservations: one with dining and one without. Disney reserves the right (but doesn't always exercise the right) to move your room at the changeover date. This can present a hassle. The difference is upgrading can be found on the disney dining plan forum. Of course you can apply the room only discount to the nights that you aren't using the free dining discount.

Good luck getting those codes...many of us haven't.

I dont think I phrased this right. First I am assuming that there will be some public offers as in the past. Assume that there will be a room only discount of 35% and a QSDP free Dining at Values. Here is what I am trying to figure out.

Optionn 1: A five day stay at a value resort with free dining promotion where I pay to upgrade to TS for all days there.

Option 2: A five day stay at a value resort where I use the 35% discount and then purchased TS dining on my own.

Option 2a: I use the 35% discount for the 5 day stay at value resort but only but TS dining for 3 days of the 5. (I dont know if this is permitted)

I am trying to see which is the better discount

My point is that if i get FD, then I owuld use it all but if I am buying it,I dont need it all as I may do some off property travel.

Thanks

I found the answer to part of the is. If I stay five days and buy dining I have to buy five days of dining. so Option 2a is out

If you only want dining for 3 nights then you can use both codes by booking 3 nights with free dining and then 2 nights with 35% off. With my FD PIN, it said 5-night/5-day stay, but will let you book 3-nights/2-day tickets.

ETA: if 35% saves you more money than FD, then you can just book a 3 nights stay at 35% off with dining and a 2 nights stay with 35% off and no dining.

Veterans can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've only ever seen a 35% discount at a value with a Pin code. The GP value discount is usually 20%. Then 30% off mods and 40% off deluxe. Sometimes the cabins get the 40% too. But, I think you can cross 35% off your list if you're expecting a GP discount at that rate. Sorry!

This was my first thought too. For the last year or so the AP discount at a moderate has been 35% and the general public code about 5% less. I know for our stay at POFQ in May I am only getting 30% with my AP. Since I normally stay in a moderate, I'm not sure what the discounts have been running for the values, but know they haven't been 35% even for AP holders, much less the general public.

As others have said you can book the FD under one reservation and then a % code on a 2nd reservation. When you do this ask the CM to link the 2 reservations. This lets the resort know you have a 2nd reservation and helps them in room assigning. I think it increases your chance of staying in the same room.

If my memory serves me right, last you could up grade the free Quick Service Dining plan to the regular Dining plan for $10 a night. I am not sure if this was per person or not. I would imagine it was per person.

You are aware on the dining plan your meals can be used any way you want until midnight of the reservation the dining plan is on, right? So if you booked the 5 night stay you could use those 5 table services in the first 3 days. Then use your Quick Services for before you leave and return from Universal. I know in the past when others have posted regarding the savings...when staying at a value you saved more money with free dining.

Now I noticed in your signature that you are going in May. I assume you are talking about this trip. Forgive me if you are talking about a future trip. But I am pretty sure (beside pin codes) the current General Public discount is all you will see for May of this year. I could be wrong but I'm going on what I have seen in the past. And as a pp said you are not likely to see 35% at a value. More like 15% to 20%.

If you are talking about a future trip, the traditional Free Dining package has been for the 3rd or 4th week of August until the end of September and sometimes extended through early December. Who knows what is going to come out for the 2nd half of the year. Disney has us all guessing at this point.

Have a great trip!

I just looked at the AP Pin I received on 1/11/11 and it say 35% off value resorts. The pin is good till 12/24/11 with some weeks excluded.
