Has anyone else made a reservation like this? I assume it would just begin on the 13th, so we would lose 2 days of the free dining. I just made all my reservations today(priority seatings, etc) only to see my boss is out at the same time, and that's an alternative for me. :guilty:

From what I understand you will need TWO seperate ressies!!

check in on the 11th no free dining
then on the 13th you need to make a seperate ressie using the code, check out and back in on that date or you will not get free dining for the whole trip

I hope this helps and I am understanding you correctly!!

Yeah that's what I was asking, but hoping not to hear. That stinks, and sounds like it would be annoying and a big time waster.

We are currently booked for 8/11 for 2 nights on 1 ressie, then our package ressie starts 8/13. We are not switching resorts (at this point) and added the 2 beginning nights specifically at the same resort in hopes of not doing a room change. However, we do need to go to the front desk on the morning of the 13th and re-check in( on second ressie)...activating our park and dining to begin that day, the 13th. Technically, we do run the risl of needing to switch rooms, but I am hoping we don't. We have left over water park passes that we plan to use on the 2 early days...then be at the desk at 6 a.m.. to activate our hoppers :cool1: and begin enjoying the DDP!
If you are planning on staying at the same resort the whole time, it may not be so bad. If you are planning on switching resorts then you do need to buy at least a 1 day base ticket for each person in your party to recieve the free DDP promo fir each resort, also the dining credits from the first resort will all expire at midnight of the day you check out...but the new resort ones will kick in immediately...so you may have a lot of eating to do! And keep track of which room card, so you are using up the credits from the first resort that will expire...can get confusing, I know.

I don't have any left over days, that's the problem. So a 2 day ticket and the price of the hotels would drive the cost $500 over what the package cost on my original days. :(
In any event, I think I might make it for the 13th to the 23rd. More time out of work than I wanted, but what can I do.

Of course I could fly in and do Universal and IOA the first 2 days and stay off property. But that's not exactly how I imagined my vacation going.

If you want to stay at the same resort just let them know that you are doing a split stay when you check in and ask them to put you in a room that you can stay in the whole time. They can assign you to the same room for the 13. All you have to do is going down that morning check out and them check back into the same room. But you have to let them know upon checking in. Also you will have to buy a extra ticket in order to get the free dining which will be worth it becasue of the amount you will save on food.
If you dont want to do that you could always spend the one of the two days checking out other resorts and going to downtown disney. And the other day at one of the water parks (they are cheaper than regular admission) and relaxing at the resort. When your free dining package starts you could be out bright and early in the parks. (just an idea)

That is exactly what we are doing missmun52....kind of like a forced relaxation in the beginnng of the trip....to rest up for the next 8 commando days! While we could've stayed at a different resort for our first 2 nights, we dicided that we wanted to be "in place" for the 13th...."activation" day for us, way easier than getting up early, haveing bags packed, getting a cab to next resort ( since earlier than busses run) checking in, going back to get sleeping family out of 1st resort, trying to get to the parks... just not worth it to us this time. We plan on hitting a water park the day after we arrive, and we want to check out POP...so looks like dinner there the day we arrive!

we are doing the same thing!! we are checking in 8/12 with a room only. we plan to do DTD or just walk around the hotel, eat at beaches n cream, explore the boardwalk, etc.. then our package starts on 8/13 with the dining! :cool1: i will definitely be at the front desk at 6am activating my park tickets and dining plan!! i'm hoping we dont have to change rooms either. blah!!

I relented and got the ok from work to move my trip to Aug 13 to the 23rd. Of course they only have 1 of 2 rooms I need now at Pop. :sad2: They only have the resort I wanted least, that being ASMovies. It's the last picked up, and the last dropped off. This planning has gone from fun to nightmare in 6 hours. Not to mention it's making me think WDW is going to be crazy busy in early August.

I should've just went to Sandals in Jamaica, but it's too late for that now. :furious: :furious: :furious:

I switched the vacation to Septmember, the hours aren't as long, but it's always nice to be in Disney World for your birthday. :)

can you book the campground and get free dining? :confused3

You can book the CABINS and get free dining, but you cannot book a campsite with your camper or tents and get free dining.

You will need 2 ressies. We did this before to get a better rate. I told Cm at check in what I was doing adn they handled everything. They checked us in/out and we had no problems. I had to pick up new cards but that was a 5 minute stop.

We had a split stay at Pop last year during free dining.

There was a phone message the day before our re-check in day. It said to call & choose a room key delivery time.

A CM arrived at our door as scheduled, and had me sign for our new room keys.
