It is generally one or the other, so be ready to pick.
Excellent point! Let's see... my AAA discount is $18.45 per night; my rack-rate-plus-free-dining-if-it's-offered discount is, um, $38.99 per night. Hmmm... which one to pick...?

Disney certainly could have made an error last year. In general, Disney doesn't stack discounts. Same with the Disney Cruise Line. If you end up with a Florida Resident rate, you have to give up the Disney Visa credit. There are exceptions, and Disney might have made one last year (or made an error). But in general, discounts aren't stacked.

I try to not use the words "never" or "always" in these type of cases. :)

Also - no matter what is on the TA site, or what rumors are out...I remember once when Disney put out an AP rate and then took it away a day later. I've seen rumors that never materialized. I hope that free dine does come out, and we should know soon enough.

Several posters stated they were able to keep both discounts. No one accused an AAA agent of wrongdoing, but none of the posters who claimed to have received both discounts were able to produce documentation to that effect. Most seasoned WDW veterans are well aware of how discounts are applied. It would certainly have to be a computer glitch, were this the case.

YMMV

2005 guests who booked through a AAA TA lost their AAA discount, had to pay rack rate, in order to get free dining.

2006 several posters were able to keep their AAA discounted resort rate and get free dining. Reservations are processed via computer. I doubt AAA TA's are able to obtain discounts that aren't allowed.

2007 free dining hasn't been announced.

Why on earth be insulted? This isn't personal. I really *would* like to see a PDF. And, for the record, I didn't ask which agent you used, so I'm not entirely certain how I factor into why you didn't send people information

As a former teacher, I doubt you ever gave assignment credit when work wasn't turned in. ;)

Here is why only one person was emailed the AAA agent I used.
""I'd like to see a PDF of the itinerary showing the double discount""

I am insulted by this and others. This is suppose to be a board where you help one another. As I said before maybe it was because I had an existing reservation.
I am a retired teacher of 35 years and I can do the math. They subtracted the cost of DDP from my discounted package.
Sorry to the others. End of discussion.......:sad2:

I agree that those who received a AAA discount and free dining last year were probably the beneficiaries of a computer glitch. I don't blame them one bit. What a great bargain they received. However, I say again, it doe not make good business sense for Disney to give a room discount on top of free dining.

I would be prepared to choose. Chances are they are not going to allow a room discount with free dining. Why would they?

Sorry mickey2000, but I was NOT implying that you or anyone else couldn't do the math. The first line of my post clearly stated that my comments were not directed at you. You were telling people about your experience last year and I was offering another side.

If people were able to book free dining and keep their AAA room discount, it was a mistake in the software that allowed that to happen. Wouldn't be the first and I'm sure not the last (as the 40% showed us).

I say great for the people that got (or get) both. However, if the rules of the promotion are the same this year, I don't think anyone is being helped by hoping for another mistake. Can people ask their agents for both discounts, of course! I don't think there was any reason to be insulted by what I posted.

Ok.. Some calming down might be called for in this thread.. So.. here we go.

Normal rules are : 1 discount per reservation. Period. You can have AAA or you can have the discount Disney emailed you for example.

As you can see from Lewis' post above.. last year it got a little wonky.

Just because that's how it happened last year.. is no indication it will go that way this year. Regardless, I would not COUNT on getting both discounts. If your trip budget requires to you to get free dining AND the AAA discount, brace yourself for disappointment. As you can see historically, your odds are 50/50.

Thank you Knox for your reply ! I agree that if I don't get both discounts this year , its OK! :) I will even pay for DDP as I enjoyed it last year

A person's odds before asking this or any or any other question are 50/50. Historically (and anecdotally) they are 1/1,000,000,000 for this. Perhaps that's where the idea for the Year of a Million Dreams was born!

Peace out!

We will need two packages, my in-laws don't have a Disney CC.

WWYD? Should I just cross my fingers that they will get the same resort as we have when the public announcement is made?

Would you worry that they may not have any more openings at that resort?

We hope to stay at POFQ. (hoping they offer for mods).

Would this work? Book theirs and mine together, have them book their own when announced to public, and then cancel theirs?

Thanks!
mary

I know last year it was 10 days max I heard it may be changed to 14 days max this year. Does anyone know yet? I am really wanting 14 so fingers crossed here.

I am sure that this has probably already been asked here, so please forgive me for asking again...There are just so many threads with info on the free dining that my head is spinning. What I want to know is this...
We booked our package several months ago with the DDP included. So, if and when they do offer the free dining to the public how will I go about getting mine changed so that the dining portion is free, or will I even be able to do that? Our trip wasn't depending on free dining at all-we were going whether they offered it or not...but if they do offer it, it would be kinda crazy for us not to take advantage of that savings!
Also, I need to make sure that you can still get it staying in a deluxe. We are booked at WL, and I had seen another post that mentioned that the offer was for stays of 4 nights or longer at the value resorts.
Any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

mickey2000 I had a great AAA agent last year and also received both the free dining and the AAA discount on my package :woohoo:

Unfortunately my agent is no longer working for AAA and the new one they assigned to me has been a nightmare to work with :scared1:

If you (or anyone else that has a good agent) could send me your agent's contact info, I would be very grateful. At this point, I don't even care if last year was a glitch and I can only get one discount or the other - I just want an AAA agent that will return my calls and not act as though it's a hardship to give me a quote for more than one hotel.

Thanks!

do you have the disney visa?? if so, just pay the deposit on their room and yours and have them pay you back. I book for my adult kids all of the time and just use my visa to pay their deposit. disney has no issues about letting other people pay for your trip. Just call and book your room and book their room. I've done this plenty of times and they've never refused my credit card.

Yep, I have the Disney Visa. After I pay their $200 deposit on my disney visa, can they "take over" making their own payments to CRO (so that their whole vacation doesn't go on my CC)?

thanks!

When it comes out check your dates...if it falls within your dates give Disney a call... you can change/modify your package...

You should be able to re-book under the new code and have your deposit transferred. At worst you can cancel your original reservation and book your new one but you will have to come up with another $200 while your original $200 is refunded.

As for the length of stay ... AFAIC it's all just rumor. I assume that you are only planning 3 nights at WL or you wouldn't be concerned. If I was given the choice of free dining at a Moderate or paying for dining at a Deluxe, I would book the Moderate in a heartbeat. PLUS ... I see from your signature that you have only stayed at the All Stars before. IMO you have not yet become a "Deluxe Snob" and you won't miss it. If you can't book WL, I would consider CSR as it is the most "Deluxe" of the Moderates with great landscaping and a fantastic pool.
