Free Dining Question

Hey Everyone,

We go every year for Christmas. Now, I understand that free dining hasn't been released yet (and may never be.)

We usually check in on 12/24 and stay through 1/1. We did the math and if we did a split stay and GOT the free dining, we'd save about 2k.

Assuming it follows last year's model and is available on 12/21, so long as we check in on 12/21, we get free dining for the first leg of our trip (12/21-12/28,) correct?

I know I won't be able to get out of work for 12/21 and 12/22. My parents would go down early and check in, then I'd most likely come down 12/23 or 12/24. Would I still get free dining? I mean, technically speaking, we've checked in on 12/21... Disney doesn't technically know what members of the family are/are not present.

Last, we're AP holders this year. Does this change anything? I know we'd need to call Disney to have the plan added..

You would still need to purchase tickets for each family member. In the past, I believe they have required a two day (?) minimum park hopper ticket.

You would still get free dining, but you would need to use all of your credits by the end of 12/28.

Where are you planning on staying? At that time of year, prices are so high for resorts, plus you'd need to buy the tickets that you don't need, and you'd be adding on a few days that you don't really need. I think you'd save money by doing room only.

Ah, that's right! The 2-day ticket. Totally forgot about that. No wonder it sounded too good to be true!
