Free Dining Question?

I'm sorry, I feel like there's so many threads about free dining here, but none of them never really answered my question: What exactly is it?!

I've never looked into or even considered the free dining thing. So i'm wondering:

What is free dining? What do you get for it?

Is it actually 'free'?

When free dining is offered...are all resorts/room included?

Free dining is usually offered in the fall, particularly in Sept and then parts of Oct, Nov, and sometimes early December for the general public. They also offer free dining pin codes at various times throughout the year. Free dining means you pay rack rate for your room and you must purchase at least a 2 day ticket for everyone in your party. If you stay at a value, you usually get the QS dining plan. At a mod or deluxe, you get the standard dining plan with one CS, one TS, and one snack per day. You get a refillable mug with both plans. You can also pay the difference and upgrade your plan. In general, if you stay at a value or mod, free dining is a pretty good deal. If you stay deluxe, a room only discount will often save you more money. HTH!
