Free Dining Question

This is my first post so go easy on me. I just spoke with a CM about the Disney Rewards Visa offer and was told that I would have to book a new package at the new rates to receive the offer. Well, I decided that was not the best route to go and to wait to see if it goes public on Thursday. I asked if the offer was going public and he said even if it did, I would have to make a new reservation and would not be able to modify the existing. Is that the case? This is our second visit and last time we were able to just modify what we already had.

Some people are being charged new pkg prices, and some are being able to modify existing ressies. Try another CM and see what you get.

Apparently there is some discussion about whether you have to pay the difference of the new ticket prices, but I know for a fact that you do not have to cancel and rebook to apply a free dining code. I've done it every year, for the last 8 years, and have not rebooked and my reservation number has always stayed the same.

OP, do you currently have a package booked or a room only reservation? If it is a room only reservation, then you DO have to cancel and rebook. If it is already a package, then there is no reason to cancel. They can just modify your existing reservation.

That is what I thought. I have a package booked beginning Nov. 24th.

They modified my existing reservation (I have the same reservation number) but they do charge you the increased ticket price. When I first did it the CM told me that the difference was in the fact that I had to get a garden room but when I looked on the disney website the difference for garden room was only $45 so I called back and spoke with a supervisor and she told me that because you are getting a new promotion then you needed to pay the new ticket price. Hope this helps

Alright, it's my turn to apoligize! lol!

I spoke to Winston, who is a customer service manager at Disney reservations, he was super informative, very nice and helpful. He said they were thrown for a bit of a loop this morning and that the agents were just informed that they have implemented a new program in the reservations system and that you still do not have to rebook or cancel, but that the computer WILL automatically charge you the new ticket price. He said that this procedure and program were brand new and some of the agents were still confused and amight not have been giving accurate information to guests.

So, I went back and looked at the reservation that I added the code to this morning, which was for a friend of mine who was at work and could not hang on the phone all morning trying to get the discount, and my math must just have been wrong. They were charge about $100.00 more for ticket increase prices.

Wow, you can always learn something new on the Disboards! I still don't think it's good customer service, and Winston agreed, but it is what it is. We were lucky enough to get a pin code a few months ago for the LM rooms and did not have to pay an increase. We have a large family and usually stay 9 nights, so this would be a substantial increase for us. Free Dining would still be the best discount for us, but you would have to factor in the ticket increase.

There is a """ button to the right of the "QUOTE" button on each post. Just click on all of the""" buttons for those you want to multiquote and then go to the bottom of the page and hit "reply".

Right next to the Quote button there is a smaller button with a picture on it. Click on that button for everyone you want to quote and then click on the big Quote button for the last person you want to quote.
