I'm confused. I am an AP holder hoping for at great rate on room only in Jan.
I know if they offered FD we would have to pay rack rate for the room. My questions...Do you have to buy a 1 day pass if you get free dining? Also, If we went with paying for dining and taking the AP rate instead, would we still have to buy a 1 day pass because it is a package or not?:confused3

AP can book the dining plan without buying the ticket. So, I think you could do it with a room only AP discount.

For free dining, you do have to buy the ticket, even though you are AP holders.

PP is correct AP holders can purchase a dining plan seperately and will not need to buy a ticket. That is what I did for our October trip and I saved about $300.

True! I'm doing it both ways this year. For my solo Sept/Oct trip to CSR the AP discount beat free dining, so I took the discounted room and paid for the DxDDP (no park ticket purchase required). However, for my Dec CSR trip I have two other adults going with me so free dining was a better deal. I lost the room discount, but got free dining for all three of us. I had to purchase one day park tickets to get the free dining though.
