Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

We are one of the first week in Dec- and we are considering both date change or keep and pay oop. I think they'll have some kind of RO, also if no FD, we have TIW, and we don't do the DDP because we've run the #'s and it's always better oop with TIW by far if no FD.

I am more interested at this point in what the crowds will be like. I think pretty busy each of the weeks in Dec.

Crowd levels are making me nervous. I have only gone in summer and this time going Dec 14-18. I'm hoping it won't be too different.

How many of you booked the first week of December expecting free dining ( like I did ) and are now:

A: Planning on changing to a free dining date when officially released.

B: Have already changed to a rumored date.

C: Just keep the first week in December and dine out of pocket.

D: Just keep the first week of December with dining and hope for a RO deal.

E: Cancel the trip altogether.

F: Other

I didn't mean for this to be so long but the options just kept coming to mind.

I am leaning toward D

Put us down for option D please.

We can only go the first week since DS is graduating college on Nov 29th. We have never had any discount or FD (last trip 2008) and we were hoping FD would allow us to use the money to fly down to surprise DS at his graduation (he is in WV, us in Canada).

I have called Disney every day hoping for a PIN or some magic but nothing yet. After some tears and many sleepless nights I am still hopeful it will work out.

Good luck to everyone on July 29th, here's pixie dust coming your way pixiedust:

I went that week in 2010, all other times in September, and it was not bad at all. More people than in September, but wait time for rides was none to 25 min.

Just a slide off topic here but does anyone have any Boy Scouts at the Jamboree this year? They moved it to my state as the new permanent home and our office has been involved. Just curious....

A for us. We are going to try to get a November date at POR AB, I that doesn't work out, we will try again for the first week in February.

I am nervous about the crowd levels being larger than anticipated. Also what does TIW mean?

Is there a list of common abbreviations? I am new to this and can figure out a lot of them like resort initials and out of pocket etc. but there are some that I don't know.

P.S. I just got it (Tables in Wonderland)

We have flights booked for 12/3, but no room booked yet. I picked the week based on low crowds and DH's work availability, didn't know about possible FD until later, so just considered it a bonus. Low crowds are important to us, and we want to go for Xmas decorations, and DH can't go in November, so we probably won't change dates, because the only availability in Dec is higher crowds.

I am waiting to book a room until FD/RO is officially released, then depending on what comes out we will either book a mod, DVC, or WBC. We stayed there 2 years ago and really enjoyed it.

TIW= Tables In Wonderland. It is a discount card available to certain guests. Here is info on TIW...

This will help you with the acronyms...

Thanks Smitch! I figured you or the Alice in wonderland cat person or Pluto's Pal would help me.

I wanted to suggest that people crunch the numbers when trying to decide what to do next. The room rates for the first week of December are lower than the room rates for the free dining days. It is possible that paying OOP will cost less money for some families than paying rack rate during the more expensive FD period. You would just have to eat at less expensive places.

I have a question (which hopefully hasn't already been answered somewhere down the line). I've already booked at The Beach Club for Nov.15-23rd and those dates should qualify for FD (or RO if offered). I booked through AAA and called to tell my TA that this offer would be out Aug. 1st. She basically said yeah, let me know when you have real information and not just rumors from one of those boards. So...just wondering if I can call myself seeing as I already have my reservation number? It seems like I could but I'm just checking! Thanks.

Unfortunately you have to have your TA make any changes to your reservation.

What a rude thing to say to you. :sad2: She will have to add it, but if you don't have a Disney Visa, you can call your TA on the 29th and say, "just as I told you before, there will be a public FD offer released on Aug 1, and I would like to have it, please." If she still doesn't believe you, direct her to www.disneyrewards.com and she can read all about it. :rotfl2:

Just an observation - I think we're seeing the effect of "booked and hoping for free dining". This debate comes up occasionally. If you book a room, then Disney won't need to give discounts, the resorts are booked enough already. Alternately, there may not be enough rooms booked to matter in the overall scheme of things.

Also, I have gotten the Disney Visa offer on the release day just by calling for it, even though I don't have a Disney Visa. The fact that I knew about it was good enough for the CM. I don't know if that still works.

sharadoc, you must have been very lucky, whenever we have booked a Disney Visa Offer, we Had to Pay the Deposit with our Disney Visa Card

I agree?!?! I would consider calling WDW direct and see if they have availability for BC for your dates and then cancel and get away from her. ( I have no idea though what it would take for you to cancel with with her. And I wouldn't do it unless you can get everything the way you want it.). At least then you would have control. Then again, I am a control freak. Lol
