You guys are all crazy to drive. But then again I could be thinking that as it would take approx. 19hrs and 53 mins straight through, according to google maps. But with my DH driving and traffic realistically it would probably take about 24 hours. :lmao:

You nailed it on the head...CRAZY! But the price to fly 6 is:crazy2:. And my drive time does include all our stops.:drive:

So what do you guys do for a living? We gotta pay for these trips somehow, right? :cool1:

SAHM here, living in suburb of Charlotte, NC, so a Southerner, too. DH works for a big-box housewares retailer as a Regional College Business Manager.

We don't get too extravagant with WDW vacations- I am too cheap to spend the $$ for a Deluxe resort! ;) For the 3 of us (me, DH, and teenaged DD), a weeklong trip usually runs around $2400. This is before any specials or discounts we can get, and we usually stay offsite and use a combination of DH's hotel points and cash. We drive down, so no airfare or rental car.

Our FD vacation in November is just DH and me for 3 nights, so we are spending considerably less- package price was $750. Add in $150 for gas, and maybe $50 or so for souvenirs, and we come in just under $1000 for the trip.

I'm a SAHHSM (stay at home home schooling mom) (ugh, to a high schooler, as of this year). Gives us a lot of leeway as to when we can travel. Although it looks like October is a lot more popular than I was lead to believe.:confused3

I'm a teacher (kdg), and my husband is an electrician.
I was also curious about how much people spend on a Disney trip??? I suppose there could be a big difference here, esp. if you are a family flying to FL. Sometimes I think people would think I was insane if they knew how much I spend on D trips...averaging about $8,000 a trip....includes flights for four, rental car, universal tix, pricey dinners...and this year Kennedy Space Center and Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

We're spending around $7,000 this trip. Driving down from Birmingham, AL - we leave after hubby gets home from work, stop overnight in Tallahassee, then drive the rest of the way. My mom lives in Winter Haven, so we spend a couple of days with her. One day at Universal (park to park tix + express pass), 8 days/7nights at WL with 6 day PH tix, (lucky to score FD!), Behind the Seeds Tour at EPCOT, MNSSHP our last night there. And basically spare no expense while there, if we wanna do it, we do it. Driving back in one day. Boarding our two fur babies while we're gone is figured in that total too. We only do trips like this every 4 or 5 years, so we do it up really big! I'd love to fly, but would hate to have to rent a car too, and hubby is not too big on flying, so he drives.

Oh, and we're southerners too!:wave2: Obviously, Alabama, the Heart of Dixie! Although I was born a Yankee! Born in PA and raised in PA and OH.

No, I'm here. Also from NC just outside of Goldsboro so not that far from you. Don't have any advise on PP+ as we've never used it ~ I've always had PP photogs take family pics for us with no problems. What are your dates in November ~ we're going the 20th - 30th.

Ahhhh! I'm from Goldsboro! My entire extended family lives there. We are going Nov. 16-22nd, staying at POP with FD!

How old are your kids? I took my 15 yr old and her friend and they were scared poopless. It was kind of funny though cause I made my DD jump and scream at a non scary part. :rotfl2: I'm a horrible mom. :rotfl2:

Lol 10 & 8...they love scary stuff. They at one point wanted to watch a "real" scary movie. So we had them watch poltergeist. By the end of the movie they had their faces covered. And that's a mild scary movie. But they both liked the woman in black. That was a creepy movie.

My trip will cost about $4100, including Disney package and airfare. I have one 6 year old and one 2 year old, so the 2 year old is free is Disney's eyes but not the airlines! (We do a lot of family style and buffet meals to make the meals work to our advantage!) I plan $5000 total for the trip. Still have to get photopass+ and Christmas party tickets, so after souvenirs and a grocery order, we will be right on budget.
We do a car trip once a year to Canada, and that's 13 hours each way. And my family is over six hours away, so with all those other car trips, just can't stand the thought of another car trip, even it it would save money. Plus with limited vacation time, don't want to waste time getting there that could be spent in the parks!

Testing....testing....closed yet?

I'm impressed by all of the drivers. I hate being cooped up in the car for more than 4-5 hours at a time.....cant do it. Any drive of 10+ makes me start to wonder if the destination is worth it!

We drove last year...18 hrs. We're flying this year...2 1/2....much better lol

I would give it a try. There's no blood or gore in it so it is a true horror movie. But then again that's all I really watch so I may be a bit biased. :) If you do decide to take them maybe take them to a matinee that way they can watch funny stuff before bed.

We live near Raleigh, NC. I am a SAHM, DH works in IT. I lead two Girl Scout troops and volunteer at school. First year with a middle schooler, so we will see how that goes this year. We spend about $7000, but we stay Deluxe (AKL) and go for 10 days, so it's all good.

Glad to know I'm not the only NC person here! Good luck with middle school! I have 3 girls and I'm dreading the day we have to tackle middle school!
