Well nevermind anyway. It's no longer showing availability even with the extra days anymore.

How was your first day??

Actually not too bad. Not as scary either since I'm working at a prison. Nothing like jumping back into the work force in a prison lol But everyone ill be working with is great and it seems ill be doing a lot of data entry which is perfect. I'm just glad I got the first day out of the way. I'm not anxious anymore....

Dang it! I feel stuck! I really want to send all these posts to my TA and ask her to at least try it for me. I already feel like I have bothered her a lot. And then if she would go to the trouble and we'd end up cancelling the extra day anyway, I'd feel really bad. I guess this teaches me to maybe do my own bookings next time.

I say, you have a TA for a reason. Her job is to work for you to get what you want out of your vacation. Go ahead and have her do it for you- and don't feel guilty!!

I am really feeling bad for you. Does she not think adding the days trick will work? I have a feeling you are not going to rest easy until it is at least tried. Do it; copy and paste these posts and send a really nice email along with it asking her to please try. Good luck!!! I am pulling for you!

Before I called I checked online using the Oct 30 date and it wasn't available. Not sure how it worked when I called but it did. I'd have your TA try!

OMG.....I called back and I HAVE FREE DINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting the Oct 30 trick!

:worship::worship::worship:

I talked to CM Cynthia and she was shocked that it worked too. She didn't even have to make a new reservation - she just changed my existing package reservation from an Oct 26 checkout date to an Oct 30 checkout date and it gave me FD. Then she changed the checkout date back to Oct 26. Wah-Lah! Free Dining for our entire stay! She said she was going to have to try that with everyone that calls in.

I hope this isn't some weird glitch and Disney takes away my FD!

My reservation on My Disney Experience doesn't show FD and I forget to ask if I'd get an e-mail confirmation. Back to the phones!

ETA: Just talked to Timothy and he confirmed that I do have FD....said I'd get an email tomorrow but he went ahead and manually sent one today - I should have it in a couple of hours. WooHoo!

Woohoo!!!! Soooo happy for you!!! MDE doesn't show my FD, but its there, so no worries ;)

I did email her and told her what you guys have all been able to with the CMs but she said:
"I called Disney Central Reservations and the Cast Member informed me that this is not an option as they do extend a booking in order to search for room category availability. The Cast Member also confirmed that there is no guarantee when modifying reservations that you will receive the same discount promotion, resort or room category. This is the case whether you are adding or subtracting nights."

Maybe if it does become available again, I could always try to book it myself, cancel the extra days myself, and then transfer the reservation to her? She has done work for me so don't want her to lose out any commission.

OK, good! I still can't believe I got FD! When I called my DH and told him the saga he asked "did you get confirmation?"....;)

I see you'll be celebrating your 18th anniversary - Happy (early) Anniversary!
We'll be celebrating our 22nd anniversary in October....and also having a belated celebration for DD's 16 birthday (Aug 22).

Happy Early Anniversary to you too! Sweet 16 at Disney, too cool ;)

Can someone give me some insight about MDE? I'm booked through a TA, and I was able to link the confirmation number she gave me. MDE shows my correct dates, room type, ticket type w/ number of days. However MDE does not show any dining whatsoever. It didn't show as paid dining when it was, and now it doesn't show as free dining either. I'm not worried about it, since my emailed confirmation from my TA shows free dining. But I'm wondering, is it the funky TA confirmation number (8 characters, both alpha/numeric) that is causing this glitch? Or do y'all who booked online have problems with free dining (or any dining for that matter) showing on MDE? :confused3:confused3:confused3

Anyone? Anything? :confused3

Thanks for any info!

I booked with Disney direct on the phone, and FD does not show on MDE for me. I'm not the only one either, it's showing for some and not for others. My reservation number is also alpha/numeric. Some FD does not show, some doesn't show their tickets etc...very glitchy.

My confirmation number is also 8 letters/numbers and I don't see anything about dining in MDE. I am having problems getting it to show up under My Plans (it says there is an error when I try to add it) but the trip shows up under My reservations. Someone posted you can call and they can give you a different number to enter to get it to link there. Not sure if that would show dining or not though.

Thanks y'all, at least now I know I'm not crazy  I'll stop worrying about it and focus on something else, like constantly re-evaluating my ADR's. ;)

We got fd on 8/1 and it never showed up on my mde either. It does show up on the UK site though. When I signed in and put in ALL my info (address, ress#) it was showing everything.

Oh great! Glad it went well. :-)

Disney's Q3 Earnings released this evening showed the theme parks and resorts posting the highest revenue growth of any division, at 7% growth.

Some interesting items:

-- Per capita spending was up 7 percent, due to higher ticket and food prices.

-- Hotel occupancy and per-room spending were "comparable" with a year ago, even with the recent opening of the $350 million Disney's Art of Animation Resort. I find this interesting due to the fact that discounts continued to be offered throughout the year to obtain this number.

-- Q3 showed a more muted outcome, particularly after operating profit had shot up 73 percent during the second quarter. This was due to two new cruise ships, as well as Easter falling in Q2 this year.

-- According to Bob Iger, Disney is now targeting a "probable full rollout in the early part" of its 2014 fiscal year for MyMagic+, which begins in October. It will be interesting to see if this holds, which I have my doubts...unless "early" means January.

-- Disney said reservations at its U.S. hotels, most of which are in Orlando, are running about 3 percent ahead of last year. Remember, most reservations from this point forward are relying on either free dining or room discounts both from PIN codes, as well as public offerings.

We are now getting set to enter September, which has always been an historic slow time for the parks and resorts. Disney will be looking to see if the discounts offered will provide a boost over last year.

In the end, Disney is looking for more people, staying longer, and spending more money. Part of that is in-park spending, part is ticket sales and part is "heads in beds". They have to keep their resort occupancy at a healthy level in order to realize increased spending in other areas. It is this reason, at this time, I still believe September (and only September) could continue to be in the cards for free dining, as it has a proven track record to put "heads in beds" during the slow time of the year.

More to come...
